Help with removing part on 98 GP
 

If there is anyone who can help with the removal of the idler pulley assembly I would be gratefull. Here is the link to my questions.

I would pull the plastic elbow(has o-rings) out first then the o-ringed part out 2nd.Never had to replace the idler assembly but have replaced the pulley and bearing before and replaced plastic elbows(they are famous for leaking).

Thanks, for the info. Does it take much force to remove the plastic elbow. Does it pop straight out or do I "wiggle" it bit to get it loose?

It takes some force.just wiggle and pull.I would also change the dex-cool antifreeze while your at it and replace with green anti freeze .Dex-cool is junk. good luck

Go ahead and get two new coolant elbows. They will break, trust me. They are cheap and can be found in the 'HELP" section of your local auto parts store. I believe Dorman also makes them.

Does anyone know how to get the inserts for the heater hoses out of the idler pully assembly.

Do you mean so the hose will come out? The release tabs are on the sides of the connectors, you can usually spread them just a little, they are brittle, then twisting the hose back and forth will usually free them out so you can pull the hoses out.

Use the quick release tool(larger version of the fuel lines) to depress the tabs.
