I have a blown strip on circuit board. It comes down from the bank that has full strip from connector. Second one from left. It comes down and around to guages and gen. light. My question is, is this power or common ground. Guessing power, but temp and oil work, gen light stays on, and still can't get gas guage to work.

What year is this car. Does generator light stay on with car off? If you unplug the two lead alternator wire from the alternator does the light go out? Does the fuel guage read full, empty, or somewhere in between? If it reads extreme full you may have no continuity from the fuel sending unit.

Car is 70 GTO. New sending unit, with good ground. Guage reads empty. Board blew strip that goes to all guages and I believe generator light that stays on all time even when I take alternator plug out and ext. regulator plug out.

Does not stay on with car off.

I have the same problem with my car. I plan on replacing the circuit board this winter. Here's what mine looks like. It's a ground btw.

Thats the same exact spot mine blew. What all does that affect. Can I jumper the wire to below the break. What wires goes to that circuit? Is it the double pink?

I tried to add a ground like you suggested, but it didn't work. Light stayed on. Seems there's some type of backfeed keeping the light on. If it wasn't in such a bad place to get to, I'd just solder bridge across the two points. Once I get the instrument panel down, depending on how bad it is, I'll either fix it or replace it.

I have the whole wiring diagram at home, unfortunately, I'm at work right now.

Do you know what wire at connector supplies this feed. Maybe jumper from wire to below break to have complete connection. Would that work? Looks like double pink wires feed that circuit.

Pink wires on 67 harness are Ign 1 feed. Seems to me that color would not be ground, but battery.

I have a 70 wiring diagram but the connection at circuit board doesn't make sense or I'm reading it wrong which very well could be the case.

Gas gauge on empty, and tank has good ground and fuel, problem is no power to gauge.
I would see what load or short is causing that circut board to blow. Putting a new wire there without finding the problem could blow something else.

Have read that I should rewire external regulator since new alternator has internal regulator. Could that cause the problem and should I have it rewired and bypass external regulator?

Just rewired alternator to bypass external regulator. Now getting just over 14 volts at battery. But bad news is gen light still on. Not with key on but with car running.
