rally gauges on e-bay
I don't know how long this will last but it is a good buy, in my opinion.

Two years ago I would have hit the buy it now, paid for 2-day delivery and had these gauges in my car by Friday. Sure looks like a nice buy!
I don't see a buy it now, looks like its up for bids only. It will go higher
Last night there was a "buy it now" of $425. Gone now, he must think that maybe they will go higher than that...
With the exception of autos the Buy It Now option goes away after the first bid is placed. Ask me how I know.
Buy it Now Works like this:
It depends on if there is a reserve or not. No Reserve, you get one chance to bid or buy. With a Reserve the BIN stays until the reserve is met. |
I think it's typical ebay. There aren't any pics of the back. These could be all rusted and/or have broken or burned studs, for instance. The dash is nothing special. Chrome is shot like most old ones are. Holes for switches you may not need. There is no mention as to how or where these came from so they may not even work. For all we know, these have been sitting in a dry-rotted car in some field forever with no protection from elements...water and mice. Trouble is you don't know.
Then again, they may really be as fine as described. Again, you won't really know until you have them in your hands. I'm willing to bet I'm not the only person here who made what I thought was a great buy on ebay only to be disappointed when I opened my "present". I have become very cautious about ebay claims. Hard to imagine your anger if you bought these babies, spent a weekend wrestling them on to your dash and learn they need a complete overhaul... That said, at $400 they may be worth the gamble. But, I'd contact the guy and grill him more first.IMO. |
I have been fortunate with most of my e-bay dealings. I just bought a very nice 67 console off of e-bay for a good price.
You can see it on the last page of my thread. http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...545434&page=32 But, I would still contact the seller and ask for more pics and info on the gauges. |
IMO, the housing is junk as someone has butchered the holes for the radio knobs - it's 'just' a set of early 67 rally gauges, condition unknown.
Well, the buy it now price of $425 has been surpassed. It's now up to $510 with 17 hours left. Any guesses on what it will sell for? I say $675.
Winning bid was $712.00!
I guess the economy is not as bad as it seems! Great price for the seller.
You guys ran the price up....
i seen nicer go for less before everyones ban accts went dry, wonder what drove the price up so much? at 700 bucks the bezels still needs restored so basically he gave 50-75 for a restorable bezel if its as good as it looks, and the rest on those gauges.
uninformed desperate buyer imo...

Ok,
So I have a great set of gauges in my basement I've been sitting on waiting to have Pete Serio restore. Couldn't pull the trigger because of cost. Now that I know I can get big $$ for my second set, It might be time to get on the project. Anyone know how far out Pete is these days? |
Fred, if they dont need to be rebuilt, Pete was selling redone faces too.
