To all prius owners......

GET THE PUCK OUT OF THE WAY......

I drive a lot. I have dozens of circumstances where Prius owners are camped out in the fast lane at 58mph, with 15 cars behind them.

I applaud you for driving a hybrid but don't sit out there and try and control the traffic.

Thanks, that feels better.

Rugratman 12-10-2010 05:25 PM

Same sh*t in Maryland!

60man 12-10-2010 05:32 PM

I finally found out why they don't go any faster. A Prius owner told me if they hit 60-62 MPH the gas mode kicks in and engine takes over from electrics....That's cool....but like you say.....move the hell over in the slow lane !!!! I get so frickin' pi$$ed at that kind of crap..WOW...was that me ??:D

firebirdcrazy1959 12-10-2010 05:34 PM

What i hate is the guy who thinks just because i'm doing 75-80mph he has to ride my ass.
Then when i speed up to put some space between me and him,he speeds up and still rides my ass.Till i give him a brake check! Then they get pissed off!

Rob B 12-10-2010 05:37 PM

Just "punt" them out of your way, especially if your driving a truck.

I'm sure many will feel a different state deserves this award more, but I think Ohio drivers earn the all time left lane camping title.

Even when I'm on vacation a few states over, the left lane campers usually have Ohio tags.

Lightfoot 12-10-2010 06:03 PM

Yep. Coming across the Ohio turnpike Sunday before last, we were constantly having to use the right lanes to blast by cruise controllers in the left lane.

The majority of Pirus drivers I saw were staying in the slow lane though.
There seemed to be a high frequency of seeing that model in the New England States.

The Boss 12-10-2010 06:38 PM

Honestly in my weekly trips up to MA to see my Mom in the nursing home it's the Acura drivers I find the most agressive.

I have discovered that where they may try to pick a fight with me in my Tacoma, they won't bother me in the Ford. :D

Don't kill one of those Prius owners, you could be charged with a hate crime

in my 8 month stint in ohio-cincy- this year i found that also, using your turn signal for lane changes is a bad move, i swear its like giving them a warning to speed up, everytime i get on 75 in that state to go somewhere everybodies just fine going 50-60-70 or whatever they wanna do but soon as they see someone fixing to get in there lane up ahead they wanna speed up, maybee just didnt like my outta state tags so i just quit using the signals altogether in traffic there and replaced it with a friendly oklahoma wave, the -finger- and givem a reason to be disgruntled.

we have roadrage here in oklahoma iam even guilty of it, " cut me off and then smurk about it and theres probaly gonna be an issue" but in ohio they drive around looking for people that looks like they need the finger dealt to

performerrpm 12-10-2010 09:36 PM

on the fastlane deal, if iam running the speed limit and can obviously see the pace of traffic is 5-10 mph faster and iam the bottle neck, and dont wanna go any faster ill move over, on the other hand if iam running the speed limit and passing everybody but one ahole or iam running 5-or 10 over the limit and that same ahole gets behind me riding my bumper, which really only bothers me at night when they make where i cant see i find me whatever it is in the truck that i can use to bing someone over the head with first, then i break check the sht out ofem, then if they dont like that idea they sureley dont like my next idea which is to direct them to the side of the road, i hate people running my bumper and out on the highway i like plenty of space in front and behind me and as far as iam concerned that little piece of road that iam taking up at that very minute belongs to me and i aint movin

Yep, I'd bet Florida can give you a run for that title. We get all the tourists from EVERY state, and it's usually the ones that can't drive. Our locals are usually bluehairs, driving a Buick or Cadillac, barely peeking over the dash and completely oblivious to anyone else on the road. They're knockin' on the door as it is, what do they care? And then we have a large influx of foreign tourists. We get bad drivers from all over the world here! And, if that's not enough, it seems that nobody on the highway has ever seen precipitation before, because as soon as it starts raining, it's like a race to see who can slow down to 35mph and turn on their flashers. Oh that bugs me! If you want to turn on your flashers so bad, pull over! Not to mention it's actually illegal here in FL!

OK, rant off, back to topic.

If the flow of traffic is, say 70 m.p.h., then going the "Speed Limit" in the passing lane is dangerous. Put your blinker on and move over! Simple.

Do you drive 55?

Yup, I lived in FT Lauderdale when it was voted the most dangerous city for pedestrian traffic.

Left lane is the passing lane. Most states the law is actually "keep right except to pass"

R.I. drivers are notorious left lane hogs. Until they are on the side of the exit they want then they cut off people(no turn signal) to take the exit. They also go from a dead stop on the on ramp, to the left lane. I've come close to a lot of accidents because of the idiots in that state.

if thats the posted speed i do.
but for many it seems theres no actual speed limit regulation when it comes to passing.;)
the primary reason for traffic congestion and accidents are from slow and fast speeds from drivers

[quote=wytnyt;4177551

Is this speculation or fact, because I would love to do a traffic study to find out why traffic slows and there is no apparent reason why.

I believe that traffic is significantly slowed from entering vehicles from on ramps, rest areas etc. IF people obeyed the slow to fast lanes traffic would move with less problems.

I don't have an issue at all with drivers obeying the speed limit. But please drive in the right hand lane.
