1973 movie car chase with new Pontiacs
 

I did a car chase thread search and couldnt locate this... I knew I had posted pics several years ago of this when there was a car chase thread out there, maybe I missed it, but I was finally able to find a clip of the chase only on youtube from the 1973 movie "Seven Ups" - I have this movie at home and love it... being the owner of a 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville identical (except the color is different) to the one in this movie that gets trashed by the end of the clip, its hard to watch. lol.

Good video especially since most cars on the road then were AMERICAN made cars...sadly not like today. When the guy was honking the horn in the Ventura around the 1:39 mark, he is supposed to be chasing the other car but the Ventura is in park...LOL!:)

In the beginning of "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" from 1973, there is a scene with a new Trans Am that ends up crashing through a barbed wire fence.

I hate that when they show a car travelling with the gear shifter obviously in "Park"! I remember seeing that in "The War of the Roses", when Kathleen Turner was trashing the place with her truck and the shifter was clearly in Park.

Seven-ups was good, I remember the car chase especially.

Maybe the car was a column shift and it was in second gear......

Just kidding. Love watching the older b rated car movies and picking out all the flaws.

That looked like a very young Russel Crowe driving the bus.

I think they used the same sound track for the Ventura as they did for the Mustang in Bullit.

That big Pontiac must have been a handful to drive even for an experienced stunt driver!

i remember that movie it was a good movie. I like roy schneiders movies.Its weird seeing that many old cars on the road. big difference from now and then.

The guy driving the getaway car was the same guy driving the getaway car in Bullit.

Let's not forget "The french connection" pontiac chase with Gene Hackman.

It is funny that you say that as I thought the same thing and the stuntman/actor driving the Grand Ville is the same one who drove the Charger in Bullitt.

Bill Hickman is the name of the famous stunt car driver.

Bill Hickman drove the Charger in Bullitt, The Lemans for Gene Hackman in The French Connection, and the Grandville in this movie. The top stunt driver at the time IMO. My favorite part of this chase was the Grandville driving through the roadblock with the two Chevies, knocking them completely out of the way. My second favorite part of this was the Grandville knocking the 67' Plymouth police car with its annoying siren into the path of a Chevelle.:D There were plenty of other Pontiacs in this movie as well. A couple of new Catalinas, a few new Safari wagons, and even a 73 Lemans (during the chase) that they passed a couple of times.

That was a 'day two' car. Obviously some individual had a brain storm to paint the shaker red, during the car's infancy.

The Driver starring Ryan O'neal was another great movie car chase with lots of Pontiacs. There is one scene where you can even see a Pontiac dealer sign clearly in the background as they are driving around.

A Chevy pickup keeping up with a Trans Am, give me a break!

Howabout the beginning of Live and Let Die with every car on the expressway being a 73 Impala/Caprice/Biscayne or some other 73 GM car?!!

Even worse is all the thumb sucking chevy guys on there defending the 'reality' of half-ton pickup (with 3-on-the-tree, no less) staying right with the Trans Am.

Suspension mods? Pleeeaase! Most of the time it looked like the front springs were broke the front end sagged so low.

I'll bet half the time the film cuts away from the truck crazily sliding around a corner, it continued to slide right around 180. :pound:
