Any help on Pontiac Dealer code 779, MO.?

Looking for a dealership name and location in Missouri. PHS shows Zone 12 (St. Louis region), dealer code 779. The year was 1968. Not listed on Ultimategto.com, any other sites with similar info for Pontiac owners?
Maybe someone else out there has info. on this dealer?

Thanks, Steve

Give this place a shot, with what ya know...

http://www.ncrs.org/dealercodes.php

well that may get ya close, its for corvettes, , most Pontiac dealers were GMC though...

heres a few closed Pontiac dealerships, in that ZONE, there was and is a TON closed and closing, all makes

Downtown Pontiac (4141 Lindell Boulevard, also once the home of Boulevard Motors, a now-defunct Mercedes-Benz dealer);

B. P. B. Pontiac (1201 S. Florissant Road in Ferguson);

Barton Pontiac (first at the S. Florissant address, then, from 1966 to 1971, at 9001 W. Florissant); Hubler Pontiac (at the West Florissant address until the early 1980s)...

Warner Pontiac was a takeover of the old Hubler Pontiac, but Warner--whose logo did have the Gateway Arch incorporated in its design--it became a used car lot in the '90s and disappeared (literally) shortly afterward...

>> Moore Cadillac-Pontiac, now vacant
In Kirkwood.....CARSON PONTIAC 10230 Manchester Rd. Kirkwood, MO 1958 to 1974-ish. sold to Don Darr Pontiac 6303 South Lindbegh, franchise then to Bommarito, then to Sinclair. ( this info from a family member of Carson, may be able to contact for a dealer number, was on another site
Another>> old (Pontiac)-Buick-GMC building that was once Thoms Pontiac (again cattycorner to the old Grebe Oldsmobile store)!
>>> Vincel Pontiac ( think this was a stand alone Pontiac dealershi) (now McMahon Buick-GMC on South Kingshighway near Fyler)
MORE>> Another Pontiac dealer (one where my dad didn't work) that I remember quite well was Thoms Pontiac. The ad campaign wouldn't pass muster with the politically correct, because their major commercial featured a guy playing Indian tom-toms and chanting "THOMS, THOMS, THOMS, THOMS." The tag line? "HIM HEEP BIG TRADER." (Of course, Pontiac was still building Chieftain, Super Chief and Star Chief cars back in that day! Could you imagine introducing the Pontiac line today???)

Thank you, Formulabruce. Those names might help. I found the NCRS site earlier tonight. It seems Chevrolet's zone 12 was N.Y. state, so I don't think anything will cross over.
I've also been on FGF, but no luck there, either.I agree with you on the long standing GMC/Pontiac connection. Just don't know if GMC labeled zones the same as Pontiac.

I'll keep searching.

Warner could be a likely candidate.

I have some of the dealers formulabruce posted, except Warner, Darr, McMahon.

They were usually (originally?) in alphabetical order.

So it would fall towards the higher numbers.

Vincel is 723 and Thoms is 687, Gene Worn Pontiac is 777, so Warner could fit in there, but would have thought it would be before 777?

From what I see, Zone 12 would include dealers in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri at least to the west short of the Kansas City Zone, so no guarantee it was from Missouri unless you have some other info.

Ditto what johnta1 says about them generally being alphabetical at least when assigned initially. Think "John Young Pontiac" (fictitious name) but an alphabetical candidate.

PHS reportedly has the Dealer names but you will have to purchase a repro Window Sticker to learn what it is from them.

Otherwise, you'll have to hope somebody turns up with an Invoice record for a '69 purchased from the same dealer, the '69 PHS doc includes the Dealer name and address.

Thank you both, John and John. John V. may have solved part of the mystery. The known (as of now) history of the car puts the car being bought in the Chicago area in the early 90's. If getting the repro window sticker solves the origin question, that sounds like the smartest move.
