68 Headrests
 

I'm in the process of rebuilding my bucket seats (springs & covers) and am considering adding headrests to them. Are the '67 style and the '69 style the same? I assume both use the same curved posts with the same spacing? If different, which style would look more correct on a '68? What is the best option for adding these, buy repops or re-cover original ones? Thanks in advance for your input!

Can you post a photo of yours, I am not sure that that the 68s had them?

67 and 68 headrests are different

Here is a real pair of 68 Headrest gto seats...and reclining pass seat from my 68 GTO ragtop
they use a unique headrest and vetical adjusters... using 69-72 will fool most everyone..
and yes 66 and 67 are pointed .. much different...thats the white one...
I have several sets of those also... theyre gettin rare too...

the hardware i removed from the seats already... they have color coded adjuster covers instead of chrome... and no button release the headrest just slides...then there is no detent in the chrome vertical rod sliding into the seat back like 69-72 has....so keep the headrest down and I wont tell anyone....... weeeeeeee hawwwww

There is a detent on the 68's, it is a beveled one that only engages when raising,and you just push down to lower , unlike the 69-72's as you mentioned.

The 69 headrests are the way to go if you do not have the 68 parts.

I would try to find original ones over recovering. Not easy to do and get to look right.
Headrests come up once in a while, they usually outlast the seats.

I actually took the headrests off the seats in my 69 when I recovered them. Thought it gave the interior a cleaner look. I would not go to the trouble of adding them. My 2 cents worth. Jim
