Interior.......Black or white

Thinking of changing my interior to white from the black it is now on my 66 Gto. Seems like this is gonna cost me a few bucks, just wondering if anyone of you guys have done this, and are happy with that decesion..............i like the black, but i do also like the white. The headliner seems like the biggest hassle.

Thanks

Rich

if you were in Florida, that is a no brainer due to heat. In Wisconsin, I dont know?

What color is the car?

stevep 02-26-2011 08:45 PM

I am a fan of white interior and not a fan of black interiors.

Rich have you lost your mind?

I am debating whether to do my interior in white or black also! I am painting my car a dark charcoal metallic grey. I was thinking white seats, white headliner, white door panels and black carpet. I think that it could set the car off nicely. as opposed to being all dark. I'd LOVE to see some pictures of any cars done in a similar way!

Is it SMS that has excellent vinyl dyes? I wonder if their white will cover over black?

gtoric 02-27-2011 01:22 PM

If you can't decide, go with the trim tag.

Packers green....

To me the all black looks great when new but with age doesn't look as "clean". Hard to keep it up. The parchment seems more forgiving. It still all depends on the outside color.

From the white seats I had in my daily driver 63 GP, and black interior on this 66 GTO.... neither are easy to keep looking super good or new. Yer gonna work at it whether you like it or not. ;) Both get hot from the sun, but white shouldn't be as bad as black. So go with what you want Rich and enjoy it.... it's your car.

Hey Jeff, between the beer & this winter so far, my mind is really starting to wander. After adding up the costs, i think i"ll keep it black and save up the money for that 5 speed.

Although i have to say that white, is a looking real good to me. LOL

For the ones that asked.............the car is a dark blue.

I like the look of both interiors but with the dark blue, i think the white would be classy.
Just my .02 cents worth!!

I've had cars with both, and both look sharp. I changed the interior of my '67 convertible to Parchment back in '93 when I did a color change on the car. I went from a gold/gold combo to a burundy/parchment combo. In a convertible, a white interior is much more comfortable. With a hardtop, if you change from black to parchment, you can leave the black headliner in place if you want.....the carpet, dash, and steering column are black in parchment interior cars, anyway. It'll look fine.

Interior

GTORICH, I have a convertible 66 and it has black interior and Im converting to white interior. It does get hot in the summer time. If you or anybody on the forum wants black interior or wants to do some kinda trade, shoot me a PM. My interior from a scale to one to 10 is about a 6. Thanks Joe

PS: My car is red with a white top and black interior. Kinda a mismatch.

stevengerard 03-02-2011 07:52 AM

white in a dark blue car looks great (at least I think so, that's my color combo) and you do not have to change the headliner as other said, nice thing about white is the black items like carpeting and dash really pop...

Satyr1966 03-02-2011 01:20 PM

"Back in the day" my friends who owned GTOs (6 in all) & I all thought that black interiors were the best. These days you can't hardly get a black interior on anything new. It all depends on your taste, budget & climate. It's your car. Do what you want with it.

Not really Duck. There's more like it around. A guy there has a 67 secked out the same way as yours. Doesn't look bad to me. At least it ain't a red top. ;)

Rich, now you can disregard my PM and I'll save some money too. LOL

Hey, thanks for the feedback boys, like i said the winter was rough this year here and i was just "thinking" about switching interiors...........

This years goal is getting that 5 speed.............next year im thinking of going "White" interior.

The tranny is gonna be a tough deal this year though, its hard getting my wifes death grip off the wallet..............its just a matter of time, im gettting it. LOL
