How to Colouring Vinyl
 

Im redoing a 65"GP w red interior and in some places the interior is faded but intact.
Any good source,idea where to get paint or tip how to do?
Its a good car and i want it to be very close to original colour,i know there are ways to re-colour leather seats and i have a Conv 66"that will need help w that too later on.

SEM Vinyl dye works very well.

Call your local car dealers and see if they have a vinyl repair person. I did and the results were great. The guy came to my house and did all work in my driveway.He used SEM products.

When I bought new seat covers and door panels they didn't match the parts I was reusing. I carried one of the door panels to the store where I buy paint and they scanned it and mixed Sem vinyl dye to match. It was $70+ a quart but it worked well. Cleaned it all good with alcohol first.

Ok,seems like SEM works fine then.I will see if i find somebody overehere in Sweden who sells the brand.

You have to use the SEM prep too, and don't think it's alcohol. Read the info on the SEM site on the how-to, it's a 3-step process.

The 3 steps are SEM soap, Sem prep (propanol-I checked the msds) and then Color Coat. I was advised by the counter man who I've been dealing with for 20 years, he's usually right on. I've done it this way with excellant results. On questioable plastic parts I would use SEM adhesion promoter but not on vinyl.

even under ideal conditions it wont be as good as vinyl that is cast in color.
buy plenty so you can touch up later.
keep it as thin as possible to avoid flaking and cracking.
I use hot lacquer thinner to prep,it softens it up for better bite.
