71 GP I picked up last night
 

OK I had a friend with a skid loader pick it up - and set it on my trailer.

Can't get either door to open, lucky for me the back window was so rusty that it fell out.

The rear drums are siezed so it will be a bit of an adventure to get it off of the trailer.

I'm not so much a GP nut as I am a Pontiac nut.

I saved her from the crusher but she is way to far gove to save. I really want the Tilt out of it for my 71 GTO (I need room for my gut).

The heads and intake are gone (trunk possibly)

Have not checked for rear ratio or posi. The rear drums are siezed to the shoes (one of the reasons we used the skid loader).

Just back up to a tree or use a truck and chain over around the rear of the gp to get it off the trailor, been there done that:D
Looks like a good score, doors actually look decent.

That had crossed my mind but will have to deal with the rusted drums some time and I would rather do it when they are up in the air.

I think I will look for GPs in my woods today.

The interior complete? Is there an AM/FM in it. Keep us Grand Prix nuts posted on the good parts it has. Nice save!:D

Yup, it does look like a parts car. The frame as well as the floors are rusted up by now.I do agree it would make a nice parts car.

Hey if your GTO doesn't have the orig. engine, there is your correct engine. Should be a YS and if the heads are in the trunk they should be 96's. 300 h.p. 400. sweet!

I finally got the GP into the shop.

I cut the rear of the car off to make it easier to unbolt the rear bumper. The rear frame collapsed when I cut the qtrs so I cut it off also (didn't take much).

I removed the buckets without any tools and the console only required removal of the two bolts into the bottom of the dash and unhooking the shifter linkage and wiring.

The pictures showing the floors are what it looked like after I pulled the bucket and console. I did not use any tools to remove the floors. The radio hanging under the dash is an afermarket am/8track.

I pulled the tilt column and put another one back in place so I can steer it.

The engine is the original YS 400 with the 96's. I have a 71 GTO so I may keep the heads as spares or for a future build.

Other than the rear bumper I have sold the parking lights and the one good door handle.

I've seen worse and original parts are the name of the game. I actually found 3 '69 SJ's today in a 1200 mile radius of my place - it's now decision time. For those out there looking for '69 parts - I bought a set of rally II's today near Salem, OR and the guy has a '69 GP J that has many good parts. I tried to convince him to part and sell them as I've no place to store a parts car, he only wants 600 for the whole thing (no seats, steering wheel/column, only 400 block) it appeared that all else was there. All in all a very decent car (no title). If your interested his name is Tony and the # is 503-871-9652. The only thing he plans on using are the front disk brakes. Most of the sheet metal is in pretty good shape, particulary the front, bumpers, lights, dash pad near perfect, all door panels and back panels appeared good (only a couple of cracks in pass door panel), dash complete, has console, auto tranny and shifter, unknown #'s in rear end, good glass. Worth a call if you're looking, seemed like a nice guy and was very reasonable on the pricing:usa2:.

Any idea on how long that car had been parked?

It was parked BEFORE 1985 (I met the property owner in 85 and it was already there). It was stored for a friend of the property owner. Both the property owner and his friend passed within a couple months of each other and the property owners family called me.

I know it was bad but I didn't think it was this bad.

I have a 67 GP I need to pick up soon that has been sitting for 20+ years in the same condition. I have already arranged the use of the skid loader :)

anther 20 more years and the only thing you would of seen of that car is the roof. It like its been sitting awhile and sinking!
