'63 wagon fuel tank removal
 

Anybody got an advice on this?

Car's back on the road, so have to do something to remedy that. Sending unit is hanging up on side of tank I think, so looks not too bad to remove (goes up to about 1/2 & wont go any higher. I am going to go for it and see if the float has slipped off the end or if I need to bend the rod.

I got mine out by putting a piece of wood on top through the gas door and prying on it to force the tank down. After that it came right out. Mine was stuck to lots of ancient undercoating. Still haven't decided weather to fix mine or get a different one from Steve @ Indiana Pontiacs. The bottom of mine is rotted. I have an NOS sender for mine as my gas gauge never worked since I've owned it.

Just to let you know. Disconnecting the strap will not let the tank fall out. You will have to pry it out.

At least it has been out recently!

Also, I see no way to remove any lines before taking it out since everything seems to be on the sending unit buried up in the quarter.
