Fuel guage inop
O.K. Fuel guage inop. pulled sender wire off near tank and gauge did not drop. Guage is stuck. Question is there are no screws on dash bezel. How do I access gauge. Are the bezels clipped in? Help!:o

I wouldn't think that the guage is bad. Did you ground the terminal inside the connector by the trunk latch that leads to the gauge? Guage should drop to empty when grounded. The cluster is removed from the back side of the inst panel, then you'll have to go from there... Hope that helps!

The gauge usually reads past full when the sender is bad. Grounding it will move it back to empty. What problem are you having exactly?

If you're wanting to pull the guage itself it's easier to pull the dash lay it on the seat and remove the guage. You can get it out from behind but it's a ROYAL PITA to do so. Fasteners are all from the rear on the 69-72 cars.
I'd be looking the sending unit over carefully. Most problems I see with these cars are there. Mike |
