The building that was Sir Pontiac in Anderson, SC is still there. When I moved to the area in 05 it was a KIA dealer. It's been empty for the last few years. It's being remodeled into a powerbike dealer now so I figured it was a good opportunity while it's still empty to take some shots. Here is one, I'll post more later.

Do you have the dealer number and zone on that dealer?
(from PHS)

That's off 85 going north on the right?

bonneville Joe 05-17-2011 04:58 PM

Yep, if you exit off of 19A heading towards Greenville from Georgia you'll drive down Clemson Blvd. You go over the bridges for Lake Hartwell and it's on the right after you go through a stop light. There's a Chinese resteraunt, a small used car lot and then the building. I actually checked into renting the building for my business but I felt the rent was too high for the area. It would have been nice to put a Pontiac restoration business back into the dealership property.

That's a pretty cool idea, and man does that thing look awesome. On a similar subject, when I bought my TA from the original owner it still had the dealer sticker on the rear spoiler and it was from Bennett Pontiac in Salina, KS. But oddly enough the paperwork from PHS says it was delivered to Dale Sharp Pontiac in Topeka, KS where ironically a friend of mine worked for years and I used to go there all the time in the90's. I've always wondered why there is a difference in where the car was sold and where it was shipped...any ideas?

Didn't mean to hijack your thread :focus:

LOL, No problem. My guess would be, like today if you want a car and there is one at a dealership somewhere else they will have it shipped in.

nice looking TA
very nice

Keith Seymore 06-19-2011 03:47 PM

I was able to do that, too.

My car was delivered through Royal Pontiac, at 400 N Main street in Royal Oak Michigan. More recently Jim Fresard Pontiac the building is actually being considered for a Kroger supermarket ( I have also heard they may tear it down), so I wanted to get some photos before that happened.

I apologize for the number of photos but I wanted to leave them all in just in case something catches your eye or your interest.

That's awesome. How many people can say they did that? When I yanked the build sheet out of the car, what was left of it anyways, it clearly said Sir Pontiac with the address. I know of a '79 W72 SE in the area that is still owned by the original owner that bought the car there also. I haven't seen the car yet but I have spoken to the owner a few times. The Powersports dealer is in there now. I looked into leasing the building for my business but the rent, I felt, was too high for the area. I guess they plan on selling a BUNCH of dirtbikes.

That's pretty cool!!! I wish I could do that, my car's dealer was in missouri, so I'd have to make a road trip for something like that...
