Help to Identify the rear window defogger
Is this from a GTO? it has no markings, other than a sticker (51M) on the side and most of the writing is gone.
i picked this up at a swap meet and knew it was Pontiac but not sure i think perhaps a 64-65? Any help and insight would be appreciated. Value? Yes it works i tested it, it also works quite well. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...3/DSCF6128.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...3/DSCF6133.jpg http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/a...3/DSCF6130.jpg Thanks all. |
In the 64 - 67 range, could be big car depending on the size of the grille, hard to tell from the picture.

Looks to be the A-Body.
Should be aprox 10.75X4.75 overall. |
Your defroster unit is identical to the unit I pulled out of a wrecked '65 LeMans in the mid '80's. I just went out to the garage and looked to verify it. My grille looks exactly like yours. But, in my great wisdom, I left all the wiring and the switch in the junked car! I never did get around to installing it.....

As is $100 & up. If you had the switch and all, more.
Like anything it really depends on who wants it & how bad at the time. |

Also the same for 66 I believe. Looks to be the same as the one I had in my 1st 66 GTO back in 1970.

Hi,
I've got a '66 GTO, which I purchased new, with a rear window defogger and it looks EXACTLY like yours. So, it is a GTO. I think I had the dealer install mine, but I can't remember for sure. The purple wire is correct. The switch is a simple on-off switch is mounted to underside of the padded dash just to the left and above the speedometer. As a defogger/defroster, it wasn't all that effective, but for its day, it was better than nothing. Dave B. |
