How many people here,,,,
|
I'm in but not for much higher. I can live with a few character scratches on mine.
|
Too rich for my blood. last NOS one I saw years ago went for over 600 but it looked pristeen in the pictures.
|
$500 seems to be the going rate, but I'd want some good up close shots for that much.
|
Nice piece. Since we are discussing NOS parts I figured I'd mention the parking lamp / reverse lamps I have for sale right now. I haven't seen may of these on EBay over the years.

I bought a set of backup lights for my car that were NOS off ebay. I am not sure I would admit how much I paid for them...
|
30 years ago I paid $20 for an NOS grill at Englishtown swapmeet, last year I got a nice one on eBay for $90 delivered. I refuse to pay much more than that. My friend handed me another one a few weeks ago with a couple of dings in it for $25. I have seen these NOS grills go for as high as $700 in Smoke Signals.
As for back up lights, I got a perfect pair in Norwalk last year for $10 from a guy building a race car and didnt want them or any chrome. |
I know I would pay stupid money for a NOS 63 leamns fuel door diecast!Tom

I noticed that I posted the "mobile" version of the page since I was on my iPhone. Here is the normal version of the auction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Pontiac...a#ht_500wt_975 |
Too rich for my blood. It's a pity, because my grill isn't anywhere near as nice as that. Anyone have any suggestions on how to paint in the black bits? The previous owner of mine polished them off.
|
Too funny, I was first bidder on the grille and that lasted 20 minutes.I only bid because my wife thought, by miracle, nobody else would see it. Um....duh!!!I can live with a couple "character" scratches on mine as well.I'd hate to see what shipping may do to that grille for the money that covers at least one car payment.
Don't know about back east, but many lenses and odds and ends for Tempests seem to pop up at local swapmeets really cheap. Mostly '61 stuff though. R70Judge,The norm I've seen for reverse light assemblies individually seem to be about $50 each. However, you even have the short harness needed at the shifter to feed the rear lights!! Very nice. I'd set a price around $125 simply because there are some people that collect NOS in box sets like that or need all NOS for their resto. You should have included '61-'62 in your posting for a broader audience though as they are the same. |
It sold for $920, talk about stupid money.
|
Ok!!!!! Who got it????? That you Scott???
|
I don't know, it's a full grill and they are getting kinda scarce and not everybody has access to them the way you do Gary. It's serious money but I wouldn't say it was that stupid.

62eyadams after I removed the anodizing, I cleaned, grease and wax remover, cleaned again. I then sat down with pinstrip tape and out lined the whole section Then I used progressivly larger tape. Then paper to cover the lage areas. You will need a razor knife to trim. I used eastwood trim paint. It didn't work. Had to clean and retape. Good plastic coat paint black satin. I did one half at a time. Took A long time. When I would get frustrated I set it a side and then went back to it. I only did one side at a time. It has held for two years now. Turned out great. I then polished the grill with Mothers aluim. polish. Then wax. I polish it once a year. Winter project. John

Back on the back up light auction: The description might imply that there are also front parking lights included??? The pictures only show rear back up lights, so I guess that is whats included. I almost went for this auction until I really looked it over ... just never heard back up lights referred to as parking lights but I guess that's part of their purpose.

I can get an entire car for that much out here. There are two convertibles and one coupe out here for the same price or a few more dollars , one with a near perfect grille. Besides, Budsurfin, another forum guy here had scored a pretty decent grille for his car, from the southern california yard with the four barrel car mentioned here a few months earlier, for $25. May not be perfect like the ebay one, but they are still out there. More so as original tempest owners are passing and their children are letting their cars go.Very common currently out here as evidence of my $500 convertible and free 4-door parts car . No doubt that ebay grille was well worth the money to place on a perfect show car, as none of mine are that nice, currently. Scott |

Last day. Just under 5 hours left. There are quite a few people watching the auction so we will probably see some last second bidding. Guess we'll see. |
