Running starter wires
 

Have a new wire harness for the 67 gto,Ram exhaust,4-speedtalk about a tight fit with a stock starter!Anyway does anyone have a print on the routing for the starter wires.Have the main lead going threw the tube by the exhaust manifold but the other wires are very close to the exhaust.Its a new Ames wire harness.Any pictures or thoughts?Thanks

It is a tight fit. I have a 66 and had to extend the existing harness to run it and a 67 battery cable thru the engine mount mounted tube. Maybe someone can post up the approporiate page from the 1967 GTO Assembly Manual. I ended up going to a Summit Mini Stater, solved the hot start and wire clearance issues.

View E. Need the motor mount horizontal tube.

Thanks for the reply.I don't think I have enough wire to run threw the tube.Its a stock harness but they run very close to the exhaust manifold.I do have the battery cable running in the tube now

If you are running Ram Air exhaust manifolds and the routing the wires between the head and manifold as the non Ram Air logs, you will probably cause an engine fire and lose the whole car. The wires will get too hot. I would get a Ram Air engine harness or extend the wires yourself and use the horizontal Ram Air tube to be safe.

RobbMc has a big following here, I went the Summit route because they where around the corner from me when I lived in Ohio, I bought it and installed it within a few hours. Personal choice as far as I'm concerned.

I installed a summit mini starter on my gto but have not fired the motor yet, how do you like that thing? holding up fine??

I have been running the Summit mini starter for just over 2 years. No issues at all. Starts in hot summer weather here in SC.
