#985740 LITTER CONTAINER-Red 1964-1965, was this a pontiac item or all GM accessory
|
GM
Dad and Mom had these for their Impalas and Caprice's.

I didn't know there was a GM litter basket like that...my parents always had one in their car, but Dad would buy them at the auto parts store. The factory litter baskets I've seen clipped onto the kick panel on the passenger side.
|
Very possible
Probably right Stuart, I just know that the parent's Chevies had the bean or sand bag, hump litter box.

I know that they were sold in the auto parts stores. I believe that all the manufacturer installed baskets were attached somewhere to the interior. Here's the litter basket from a 62 Pontiac accessory booklet.

that is probably just one from the parts store. Looks the same as the one for 68-69 pontiac non console cars, except for the band, the pontiac one had the pontiac arrowhead all the way around the band

Page 14, bottom left picture (D) from the '66 "Accessories by Pontiac - 1966" book, shows that exact litter basket.
The blurb reads, " Litter Basket. Available in red, blue, black or beige to harmonize with car interior. Clings to ytransmission tunnel, weighted to prevent tipping. Easily removed for emptying (D)". Ian :ausflag::ausflag::ausflag: |
66 - 67 litter basket is a different number accessory wise, probably very similiar piece.
|
We had a black litter bag with the sand pouches in our 67 Bonneville 4 dr hdtp. It was a burgundy car with black interior and the litter bag looked just like the ones in the pictures above.
