65 gto valve cover oil filter location
 

I've got a couple questions that I need advice on:
1) trying to be sure which side of the motor is the correct location for the oil breather valve cover on a 65 GTO 389 cu. in. I've seen it on both side but would like to be correct. Also,
2) Does anyone know if 14x6 rally rims will fit on a 65 GTO with disc brakes? As always it will save me a lot of time for your answers and I appreciate everyones help.

Oil breather goes on the drivers side.
Yes 14x6 Rally I rims will work with disc brakes. Not sure all of them, but I bought mine from The right stuff ( http://www.getdiscbrakes.com ) and they fit without issue.

Oil filler is on the passenger side like the dipstck.

I don't know what to say on the wheels but most cars back then with disk brakes ran 14's. I guess it would depend on what your set up came off of.

I took pictures of the concours '65 vert at the Portland GTO nationals this year as my restoration guide, it's on the RH side. I assume it's correct as nice as the car is and it makes sense to be by the dipstick.

If it's wrong then I'm wrong so I'm not sure.

Zazzarine and Roberts, restoration guide (1985), on page 322 shows 3 factory picture of a '64 with the breather on the passenger side, on page 337 shows a '65 with the breather on the pass side. several additional photographs and line drawings through out the rest of the book also show the breather on the passenger side

To determine if a steel wheel will work with disc or not look at the back side of the wheel if steel has a step in it from the edge inward it is drum only , if the backside edge goes straight in towards the lug area , no step that will fit disc brakes [drum as well ] .
