1969 Firebird...barn find?

I usually don't like to hammer someone that's making ridiculous claims on an E-Bay car, but I thought this one deserves to be mentioned. I think someone needs to explain to this guy that the term "barn find" means an unmolested, original car that was tucked away decades ago, not a beat up car that was abandoned in a barn.

And I want to know if it has the original woodgrain on the "councel".

Hey, is that a prototype Ferrari steering wheel? http://www.smilieshq.com/smilies/happy0009.gif

:D

Ferrari GT it looks like.

:)

I was going to say at least he spelled Firebird Convertible right, but he spelled it wrong in the main body.

:eek::(

You would think most of these guys could use a spell checker or use a dictionary.

:)

Barnfind

Mike, you must have a lot more of these around you than we do up here. I would be all over that for even 10K. Are you saying it is not legit? I would think there would be all kinds of guys down your way wanting to clone that in a heartbeat. Ed

2manyIndians 01-05-2012 07:28 PM

Well it could be (un malested) but un molested, I would have to say no.

FirebirdHank 01-05-2012 07:42 PM

I see there is no reserve listed. I don't think it will go for much more than $6K. Three days left, who knows.
Calling it "un malested" though is a stretch.

Captainofiron 01-05-2012 07:45 PM

no its in un malested perfict great restorable condition

dont hesatate to call him haha

No, not at all, I was simply referencing the claim that he says it's an "unmolested barn find". That's expression means it's as it was in 1969 (or a few years after that), stored in a barn for decades, then discovered.

This one was just car.....found in a barn.

68lemansman 01-05-2012 08:16 PM

OK I may be wrong or right but I hope they are not the factory speakers in that backseat cause they make the interior look like crap! Also if this was a barn find it sure got some nice looking seats and interior that the mice just did not like.

Yes, those look like speakers hacked into the back, as well as in the door panels, which may explain the mass of wires in the trunk.

Why we keep cutting funding for education is beyond me. :noidea:

By the way them wires look in the trunk and the big ugly speakers in the backseat im not surprised this car did not end up as a victim of the "Gangsta" ride such as the 22 inch rims.

Doesn't that make it a "barn find" - by definition?

(lol)

Case in point: this one has been hailed as the "Pontiac barn find of the century" and it didn't weather the years too well...

hmm I am really close to that car if it actually is in West Chicago, maybe I will check it out.

7,600 for that thing so far...yikes

MikeNoun 01-06-2012 01:21 PM

vaneyes, lordztown, knorwould, heck they're all the same. http://www.smilieshq.com/smilies/confused0043.gif

It's amazing to me that people can spell like a 2nd grader, have the English skills of a 3rd grader, type like a monkey, yet they have the freedom to sell a vehicle on a multi-billion dollar piece of technology called the web.

Only in America...

And he states:

THE TRUNK IS NOT RUSTED ITS RED CARPET HAIRS FROM CARPETED TRUNK FLOOR

Really? So Pontiac used "trunk carpeting" instead of a mat? I thought this was unmolested and original? Maybe Pontiac used a new type of carpeting that's orange, brittle, and flakes off....
