Left in the basement of newly purchased house
 

These where left in the basement of the house we just bought. Figidaire chest freezer and electric stove and a Barlow & Seelig washer. The chest freezer and stove say "Made Only By General Motors" on them. Pictures below.

You don't see freezers like that anymore. It's old enough that it may use ammonia as the refrigerant, so be careful with it.

Thanks for the heads up, I don't know what I'm going to do with it or the stove and washer, besides for let them sit there or find someone that might want them for scrap.

Does that thing have a 4 speed and is it number matching lol Makes you wonder how things were really made to last.

To the right buyer I'll bet you'd be surprised how much they are worth.

Try and find a buyer before you throw them away.

I haven't tried see if they work yet. The thought of selling them has come to mind. Moving the stove and washer no problem, the chest freezer thats another story, thing looks like it weighs a ton. House was built in 1965, the appliances, can anyone tell if there older then 65 or newer?

My guess is late 1940s or early 1950s.

Good old wringer top washing machine. We used one to wash shop rags at work. Damn things were almost indestructible.

Definitely. I'd speculate the stove looks early 1950's and the rest appear to be 1940's vintage.

They probably been working for 60+ years and STILL work!

With those thick first-generation range coils and the overall look of the styling, I'd say the stove is about 1953-55. We've got the original 1962 stainless Jenn-Air electric cooktop in our ranch, and it's got the thin coils, so yours is older than that.

As for the washer and freezer, looks to be similarly styled, so I'd say around the same era.

If all the burners and everything else on the stove works, it will probably be the easiest to sell if you can find someone who owns a mid-century home and is restoring their kitchen.

My guess is the washer and freezer aren't going to be popular - the freezer, just because it's so huge and takes up so much space, and the washer because they're too much work (and there aren't that many people anymore who know how to use them. ;) )

My mother had a wringer washer when I was a kid, and it was an all day effort to wash clothes.

i got my fingers caught in a washer like that when i was a kid.got my ass kicked also.

My mom also had a washer like this when I was a kid, I remember getting my fingers pinched a few times. So where the stove and freezer made by GM the auto manufacturer? I've never heard of that. Anyone know any good places to maybe advertize them? Thanks, Eric

The wringer washer's worth some money, I suspect the stove is also. No clue on the freezer.
