Trying to locate old Pontiac dealer in Philadelphia

Hi! According to PHS the dealer was: Johnny Johnson Pontiac Inc 337-41 Broad St,Philadelphia. Zone 3 296.

Where can I search? Philadelphia City Hall or City Municipal Engineering or Town Planning Office? Someone must have an archive over old buildings.

I have owned the car for 15 years now and it would be nice to close the circle.
Please, anyone that could help me with this? A little bit hard for me sitting on the other side of the world.Best Regards Peje,Sweden.

I think that is where my dad got his 69 GTO. I don't think the name was Johnson. I will check the name for you.

Block Pontiac is the dealer your thinking of. they were on broad st

It depends if it is North Broad or South Broad.

I think it was on North Broad, just south of the Packard Building...

Looked at the PHS yesterday it is SOUTH,my fault.

This is what I found:

"337-341 South Broad Street, designed by architect A.Levy and built in 1923,is an Art Deco three-story brick garage with two-story casement windows divided by ornate floral terra cotta panels. It served as an auto sevice and body shop when it was surveyed for the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in Januari of 1981".

The building is still there. It is a Starbucks Coffee shop now. I used to live a few blocks away.

If you download google earth (its free) and type in address, it will give you a nice view of the building now. As stated, it is a starbucks and parking garage

Hi! Thank you all for helping me!! Things moving on and yesterday I recieved a mail:

There was a Pontiac Dealership at the northeast corner of South Broad Street and Pine Street for many years under a parking garage where the new Pontiacs were stored. So go to the website and look for 337-41 South Broad Street,or look for a photograph of the northeast corner of South Broad Street and Pine Street-that is the Johnny Johnson Pontiac Dealership.Hope you can locate it in the files.

If you use google earth, keep clicking until it goes to the street view. Then you can rotate the view 360. It will give you a close up of the building now from the street.

I have now seen the pictures! Nice to see the building.

1. Anyone knows what year J.Johnson was in buisness or closed down?
2. Possible to find OLD photos from that era?
3. Was the dealership/showroom on the ground floor(now Starbucks) or under the parking garage?

The only one left now is the first owner..

Have now a modern photo and two from 1927.RicksGTO also wrote to me that it was a namechange in Oct/Nov 1969 to Victor Pontiac.
