sits too low in the rear?
 

Does my '68 sits a little too low in the rear. I've got new 225/70/14 all around, new rear coils. Sits to low, I think. The picture exaggerates it somewhat. Are 225/70/14's too low of a profile tire? Body bushings don't look crushed either. What else could it be?

I'm thinking "too high in the front".

Im thinking its right on the money. Go to YouTube and look up Pontiacs on the I Dream Of Genie show. They sat like that when they were new.

Looks pretty close to me too.

I actually think it's perfect. The front might be a little high but I still like the way it sits.
My question to you is what springs, part # are these? I've been procrastinating on the purchase of rear spring because I was afraid they'd sit too high and didn't want to buy and return springs until I was happy with the fit.
Alternatively if you want it to sit higher in the rear and want to buy new springs I'd buy them from you if they are not returnable.

I feel your pain brother, I like it to sit higher in the back. I am going to put some coil spring spacers in mine. I don't like the gasser look on my car.

Dave, I got them from Ames Performance. They offer two different kinds. One is standard ride and one is firm or heavy duty. I asked them if the H/D raise the car any and they said it did not.

I might do the spacer deal too, just to raise it an inch. Do they compromise the ride any and can you see them once installed?

I don't know if they compromise the ride or not, I haven't put them on yet. Still too cold here for me to out working on the car. There is a guy on the GTO forum that has them installed on his car, his user name is "GTO JUDGE".

I put one inch lower fronts on my 69 to hopefully level it out some, but havent got the body back on it yet to see how much it helps???

I think it looks original. Maybe a bigger tire on the back may help or all the way round. I have a little bit bigger tire on the rear on my car than I do the front.

I too think the ride height's good, just the way PMD wanted it.

If you all really want to be correct why don't you have a look at the factory service manual as it gives all dimensions including ride height which is called in the book " curb rocker panel height" with the stock tire @ I think 26 inches. Whoever was it that said the front looked a little high was correct, and it's supposed to be a little higher according to the dimension in the book.

Thanks U47. I'm at 25" in the back and 27" up front. I'll be curious if some one can dig that hieght measurement up.

Did you ever change the frame bushings on that Goat? I know when I did the resto on my 70 I changed them and then I do remember I could not find springs and used BB Chevelle springs in the rear.. funny I do remember each spring had a different part number for left or right....

.05 isn't much at all. Can you even see that difference? either way, I'm sittin a little low I figure...

That seems to be a common response. I'm gettin more comfortable with it.
