74 SD T/A at Volo Auto Museum
 

New to posting on this site but have followed it for a few years. Volo has a '74 red SD for sale. Does anybody know about this car? I have called and it seems that the drive line is number matching but unknown about carb, intake, etc. For a car with $11,000 in the motor rebuild, the engine compartment is lacking some tlc. Currently priced at $48,000. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, John

I think there is plenty wrong, but I will let the SD experts do this one.

I saw this car in person and it is amazing what photos hide and taking pictures strategically placing them to miss the problem areas can do. I took pics with my cell phone and sent them to a friend basically stating can you believe this? The car is not that impressive in person. I don't have the pics any more but recall that the window rain cap was plastic on the drivers side and metal on the passengers. The passenger door interior is screwed up. you can see even their pic shows some red blotches. those are really there. Along with other cosmetic issues. I recall some kind of hole too. The seat backs have been sprayed white and they did not mask it well it's sloppy showing yellowed plastic around the edges. The paint had issues on or around the trunk lid. My wife was the one who pointed out to me that one of the quarters was repaired and she knows nothing about cars. Thats how much it showed in person. A stranger walking by heard her and we both talked about the flaws in quarters body work.

See it in person before considering buying it or get a real detailed video from them showing all areas.

I noticed a few things, and I am by far not a SD expert..

Aftermarket coil/plug wires.

Corporate blue engine paint

Chrome valve covers/master cylinder lid

Wrong carb/fuel line

missing seat belt guide passengers side

wrong color paint on the Rally II wheels

cracking Plastic drip rail trim on the drivers side

Shaker positioned crooked, mesh on opening, and are the SD455 decals supposed to be white?

A chevrolet bowtie on the aftermarket radio...Really?:gag:

Faded nasty Hazard knob on a restored car ;)

Firebird emblem on door panel is crooked

The underhood area is dirty/not detailed

Underside of the hood is solid red

Low hanging mufflers instead of the transverse muffler

Suprisingly, it retains the original cloth fiber intake hose! :p

Missing pull strap cover on passengers side door panel, and are they supposed to be color keyed to the interior instead of black?

That big, nasty dealer emblem on the spoiler....:rolleyes:
