Possibly getting a 64 cutlass for my dd a few ?
Car been in a barn for a while, white car with white interior, bucket seats and console shift, it's going to be my daily driver, I'm selling my Audi a6 in favor of this, I'm putting a olds 350 with a 400 trans in it.
But I have a few questions. 1. Being my daily driver is there anything I can do to make it more "comfortable" 2. The powertrain is out of a 79 olds 98, is there anyway to keep the cruise 3. Would a 700r4 improve my milage alot? If so how to go about it. 4. Anything else I could use from the 98, rear, disc brake setup etc? Thanks |

2. I don't know, I think it might be pretty difficult. There are reasonably priced aftermarket units out there that are easy to install, though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPEEDOSTAT-A...sories&vxp=mtr 3. A 200-4R is a virtual bolt-in. 4. A tape measure is your friend. If the rear will fit, you'll need to change your master cylinder out for a dual unit. You should, anyway, for safety's sake. |
Diff is too wide.
Spindles won't fit without mods. I'd adapt a 700r4 before bolting in a 2004r and depending on the gear ratio of the car now the OD may actually lower milage due to lugging the engine. I'd use a TH350 is this the case for a couple reasons. It's a bolt in except for the detent cable and extra shift position. It's got less parasitic drain than the TH400 does. Disc brakes are relatively common and kits are cheap for that car. 64-72 A body interchange. Mike |
Cool daily driver.
If you got the car cheap I would leave the driveline as is if it's functional now. (Aint broke-dont fix it.) |
Wouldn't the Olds 98 trans have the long tail shaft?
|
its a short tail trans th-400, Ill be using a th-350 I have lying around as I dont need that stout of a trans. Im getting the car for 2500, all it needs is a buff and some seat covers.
