1969 GTO Ram Air III 4spd - Frame Off

Here is my latest project, a frame off on a Matador Red '69 GTO Ram Air III 4-spd (non-Judge)
PHS options:
4BBL 400 R/A
4spd Trans
3.55 Safe-T-Track
AM Radio
Hideaway Headlights
Remote Mirror
Rally II Wheels
Hood Tach
Console
Power Steering
Tilt Column
Disc Brakes
Soft Ray Windshield
Ride Handling Pkg.

I have a correct WS engine out of a 69 Judge that is rebuilt and ready to go in. All new everything, this car is really going to be sweet. Unfortunately I don't have any before or disassembly pics thanks to a computer crash which I am upset about.

Frame is almost done. I am not using the brake valve shown in pics, I am using an original Pontiac unit instead of the Corvette unit supplied with the new kits.

The rear frame rail looks bent to me, are they supposed to be straight across, or have a slight inward curve on them at the gas tank opening?

Very nice John! Looking forward to seeing it all come together!

Looks good John.

I agree with you that the rear frame rail does look bent up and inward some and also think they are suppose to be straight across.

How is the body? What interior color does she have?

Yep...

tweaked a bit...but looks good otherwise! Ron

Nice frame!:)

Looks nice. Yes the rear crossmember is rolled a bit.

Is that a 70 Superbee / Coronet on the rotisserie in the background?.

Thanks guys. The rear crossmember has been straightened since these pics were taken. Body is starting to look really good now. Will get pics up soon.

The Dodge is a '70 Coronet R/T 383 auto.

John, it looks good--look forward to more pictures. I assume this will be as stock as possible.

No such thing as a 1970 Coronet R/T with a 383.

Maybe it is a 70 Super Bee they came standard with a 383,real 70 Coronet R/T's came standard with a 440.

My bad. I am not a Mopar guru. It must be a 440 then because I thought the body guy said R/T but then I also thought I heard him say 383. I dunno. It's a Coronet though. I can find out for sure if anyone has to know the facts.

Yes it is going to be as stock as possible. Only thing is PHS shows idiot lights and no clock but has hood tach. I'm thinking I want to put rally gauges into it. What do you guys think?

More pics coming soon. I want to get them on Photobucket as a backup to avoid losing anymore pics.

goatnut 04-18-2012 09:15 PM

Looks good! I vote for the rally gauges.

The Boss 04-19-2012 06:57 AM

Gauges

68gtoMN 04-19-2012 10:53 AM

Gauges without question. Make sure you put in the correct ones (not '70). :D

Here are some pics of the body. Almost ready for color primer.

That is going to be nice. Was it a driver shape car before? Where did you find it?

I am working on a matador red, black interior, Judge now.

As far as loosing your pictures, you might want to take the computer somewhere and see if they can recover them.
