62 Tempest trim tec tip
this is the trim piece that goes on roof by the rear 1/4. I remember reading on here
about the clips that hold this part on are hard to locate new. so this is what I did... http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...R/100_4016.jpg went to NAPA and got these plastic clips. Had to trim them some. Put a little silicone sealant in the hole to help keep water out. And being plastic they don't chip the paint when installing them. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...R/100_4019.jpg they fit tight to the body like the stocks ones. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...R/100_4017.jpg just thought it might help someone...... |
The picture is a little blurry (or my eyes are a little blurry) -
Are those a "Christmas tree" type fastener? K |
That is cool. Next time I'm messing with that area THAT's what I'm going to do. Great Idea. John

Looks like the plastic push pins used for door panels on different cars. Great idea!! Trim the sides down a bit & slide them into the stainless trim. Should work just fine.

Thanks! Great idea!!

I've trimmed a few of those metal butterfly clips to do the same thing. Those plastic ones look easier too take off and may want to fit tighter. GOOD JOB

yes the picture did turn out a little blurry, its not your eyes.
they are the Christmas tree type . I just looked threw their clips section. The have a small dome to the top. Hopefully I will never have to remove them. But shouldn't be to bad. May have to "GENTLY" pry away from body just far enough to get a razor blade and cut the head off. when installing them I made them fit tight by trimming just enough off to force it into the trim and then use a wooden paint stick to push the clip into location. Glad you liked it. |
