py complaint

Recently bought a trans mount for a muncie 4 spd. and did not like the quality. Called about sending it back and getting a shipping label but apparently they do not do that. Not only then would I have to pay for shipping but also a 15% restocking charge. Give me a break. Not a good policy and not pleased at all.

What was it that you didn't like?

Hi,
What is your name and address? I will look into this. Do you know who you spoke with? Typically if you are returning a part that is not defective you would be responsible for the freight to send it back but the restock charge is usually after a period of time.
Thanks!
Ed

It just seems poorly made. The original is a solid maybe 2" inch block of rubber to the steel mount where the new one has about a 1" thick piece of rubber on the top half of mount and a little flimsy piece of rubber below it that connects to the bottom of mount. Just doesn't appear like it would hold up very well.

You will get the same poor quality mount from your local NAPA. They are all Chinese pieces now.

John O. 05-25-2012 04:02 PM

That's the problem its made in China. Who wouldn't pay a few dollars more for good ole American made.

GTO JOHN 05-25-2012 10:02 PM

I know I would pay more for a quality product. I got one from NAPA and they only wanted $2.96 for the tranny mount! I couldn't believe it was so cheap- until I looked at it. I decided to re-use my original.

BTW- ever take a look at the new heater cores they are selling? Aluminum Chinese junk!!

Just about everything I get from NAPA Carquest or any place including Mopar factory parts are cheap looking. We would use Mopar rotors instead of "white box" til we noticed that mopar rotors where coming from China. Very few parts are out there that have that "quality look".

We are checking into another supplier that seems to have high quality mounts. We'll let you know as soon as we find something.

U.S.A. Then India, then S. Korea, then China. Malaysia likely next.
( i was okay with the India mounts: seemed well bonded )

Seems realistic to come full-circle and have them made in Hatfield or Collegville PA...where they likely had their MFG start.

It would be nice if they would give a better desciption in the catalog like one of there competitors does as to the quality of the part and fit.

We do that a lot but can't keep up with every change. Now once this is researched, we'll do it for this item as well
