67 gto Dash Wiring Question
 

So this has to be my least favorite part of the restoration process. I have not been able to find a acurate wiring diagram that matches the color of my dash idiot lights. I am putting the dash in and I am trying to put the instrument lights in the right holes so I don't have to pull it out again. The wiring is original and in incredible shape

Here is what I am looking for

Idiot lights for Oil, Battery, Temp and Brake

Here are my color coded leads into the bulb sockets

Red and Black
Red and Green

Brown and Black
Red and Blue

One diagram does list the Brown and Black as the Parking Brake light.

Will I be able to plug and unplug the bulbs from the back of the dash once it is in? How about the speedo cable?

Me and my knuckles appreciate any help you can give me.

What manual diagram are you looking at? Is it the 67 service manual black and brown cover with the 3 needle nose pliers on the cover? If so look at page 12-3 and 12-5 on the right side of the diagram. Are you sure Red isn't really Pink? and that your red and black isn't really pink and brown.
If so your red / black is battery, red / green is temperature, and red / blue is oil. brown / black is brake.

" ....yes but you will be upside down with your head on the floor, your knees hanging over the top of the seat, your feet in the back, and your butt where the small of your back should be. ask me how I know :)

I take the seat out when I work under the dash.

I recently had the dash out and I wired in a connector intot he harness so I could install all the bulbs, etc with the instrument panel out. Install IP, connect the connector halves, and done!

Rich1967, That is the manual I am looking at. I will re-check the diagrams and see if that works.

You da man! Change red to pink and it is very simple. Me being the obsessive compulsive person that I am, just tried it out and it worked. 12-3 was the right diagram for me. Thanks.

Anytime that I work work under the dash for more than 5 minutes I remove the seat. It's a 5 minute job and I'm just getting too old to twist and turn like a 5 year old.

Great idea on using a wire harness connector. ;)
Simple, easy to reconnect and connectors of all sizes readily available.
None of my cars will ever be looked at that closely, and easy to do.

I'll definitely do that when I swap out my rally dash
