Thermostatic control for a 'Dorman' electric fan ?
 

I used a Taurus 2 speed fan. I created my own thermal control circuit with 2 temp switches in the heads and some relays (5 in all). Slow speed comes on at 185, Hi speed comes on at 200. I also have a manual override switch to kick it instantly to high speed. And it will also be enabled by the a/c compressor kicking on.

But all of these functions can be provided by some ready-made fan control circuits, with some being very simple for a single speed on/off at a specific temp setting, and others for dual fans and other features. I ended up spending about as much on components and wiring as purchasing a unit would've cost me.

I doubt you would be able to use your mechanical fan with the electric if your electric is a puller. If your fan is a pusher, you could probably do both.

Google "electric fan controller" and you find quite a few out there. Just be sure to search for some reviews and opinions, because I've read a number of complaints about durability from certain manufacturers.

Now THAT looks nice! I'm curious what your review will be on ease of install, durability, etc.

And the price looks nice for the additional features!

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the side where it attaches do you? I am still trying to decide if I want to buy these for my car but I want to make sure I can mount them without a lot of modification.

HERE are a few pics....hard to see, but it is a 'crowded area"....

DC Control is a one-man show, Brian Baskin. He's an electrical engineer, and builds these himself. He has test cycle (2 days long, I believe) that he puts EVERY controller through, before he ships. I've lost track of how many I've installed and convinced others to buy, but I've not seen any that failed. I have one that is 12 or 13 years old and still working fine. It usually takes a few weeks to get these, but IMHO well worth the wait.
