Latest non-Pontiac beater of the year,
1 Attachment(s)
88 V-5 Blazer, Air force surplus, 350 TBI, 700R4, think the gears are 4:10's. it appears to have been explosive proofed as it has 1/2" plate installed on 1/2" spacers above the OE floorpans. This thing runs like a top, has 79k miles, trans was rebuilt about a yr ago, doesn't smoke, trans shifts well. It has typical rust in the 1/4's and needs a tailgate but it was cheap and will haul the kids well during the winter while being pretty efficient. I put a tie rod and bothe drag link ends on it and had it aligned, also did a tune up on it. Has aftermarket A/C,not sure if it'll work as the main wiring to the compressor has been chewed off by a marauding rodent. As with most of these the interior is rough. Will replace the front seats and throw a mat on the floor and a new dashpad in it.
Thought I'd share as these are getting relatively scarce in the rust belt. I'll probably hang 1/4's and a gate on it next summer. going to do a fast jack on it now to quiet the rattles and seal the leaks. |
you are a magnet for this stuff.
cool ride. Put some nice tires on it and go mudding. :) patrick |
Yay. Can't beat a good ole' C/K/R/V truck.
Any luck yet coming up with the original option content (either SPID label or invoice)? K |
Keith, have gotten it cleaned up well enough to read MOST of the codes.
Interesting thing, planning on fast jacking this thing this winter so it doesn't rattle so much and then doing the body right later. Paint code is a WA0000U and a WA0000L Did you guys sell these things in primer as a special group order or would you be able to come up with a mix or code for the Air Force blue paint? I'd rather have something close to the current color that I can flatten instead of sticking out like a rash. |

Those look like bogus paint codes. Should be something like WA7473U or L (WA = paint code, 7473 is the description and U = upper/primary vs L = secondary/lower). Check the Heritage Center archive info I sent and see if it shows the Air Force paint codes in there. Other than that I wouldn't know offhand where else to check. K |
Will do Keith, Thanks!
The Camo scheme must've driven the production pushers nuts, that takes time to lay it out. Mike |
