1980 turbo switch help

Does anybody know how the turbo lights should work? Pictures of original wiring or where it could be found in the factory manual would help. I want to get mine up and working. Thanks!

Doubt you'll read the following on 301garage. Turbo lights weren't avail at the beginning of '80 production (October into mid Nov of '79). Originally there was going to be an elapsed time in boost/digital clock under vacuum deal that mounted in the back of the hood bulge ornament. This option (UR4) was noted in pre-production '80 ordering literature. Thank goodness that silliness never made onto the cars, it took a lot of work to get respectable straight line performance out of the turbo cars & the silly lights didn't help with any kind of rep on the street..

The turbo light panel first showed up in late Nov on the very first Indy pacecars. Any factory schematic on the production light set=-up is going to be in a service bulletin or in the '81 Pontiac service supplement. The goofy light setup basically involved pressure switches that came off the PEVR block on the intake. The circuit for the medium & high lights used Delco's version of a normal closed pressure switch... hit so many lbs of boost & the circuit was complete & the light went on. In the early to mid 80's I performed performance mods on a bunch of '80 & '81 turbo cars, knocked a bunch of time off their 0-60's. On the later built '80 cars, I always pulled the plate with the lights in it, as we always ran an open hood bulge, a modified open 14x3" air cleaner & most importantly needed access to the PEVR block as a vac/boost source for Hobbs & Faria switches along as the vac/boost source for a mechanical autometer boost guage.

Thanks for the info! I have the block and the switches. They seem to be dissconnected from the engine. Does anyone have a couple pictures of a working system or exactly where to find a diagram. I do not mind buying a 81 suppliment if I am sure it is in there? Thanks

I have an 80 Pace Car. The block for the pevr screws down in front of the carb. The center port is for the pevr switch and the two angled sides each hold a boost switch. The pevr vacuum lines go to the carb, and the switch wires go to the light panel. The low light is always illuminated. Medium and high illuminate as the pressure switches are tripped.

Does that help?
