Finished product. I printed it on Avery adhesive back paper decal material. This might have been what GM used in 1977. Life expectancy about 6 months.. LOL

Maybe a year in a controlled environment, lol. Looks like you did a nice job especially considering what you had to use for a reference.

I tweaked the dimensions of the decal, and it fits much closer to the factory photo:

I made a decal for my GTO:

I am in the process of making a power steering pump code decal for it, since I found what was left of the original.

Glad I could Help !

So you no longer could use a pic of the one in my Can Am?

77 Canamman 01-01-2013 01:00 PM

I'm all set with that decal..However, if you have a chance, could you please look at your master cylinder for the very small two letter code stamped on the foward machined boss where the brake line is threaded into. Thank you.

6 349 is the Julian date code (349th day of 1976, correct for a 1977 model). DD is the code that should be on the broadcast sheet.

Revisited this project. Many hours went into the size, and fonts. Perfected the process as these are laminated and adhesive backed:

Compare to the tattered original off my R89WP battery:

With the good printers and label materials available today, it might be better to DIY some of these labels rather than have them commercially made and GM licensed.
