Anyone have a '65 GTO with a digital camera? I need a picture of the underside of the dash directly under the steering column. I think I'm missing something...besides brain cells....:D

i dont have mine at home but i might have to see her today i will snap a couple for you

I didn't know Pontiac offered the GTO with a digital camera back in 1965.

i have both but ones in a million pieces and the other the battery is dead, sorry. you can guess which is which. :)

Keith, from what I have been told, there is a short piece that has to be removed from under the dash to drop the steering column down. What I need is a picture from the floor pointing up at the bottom of the dash to see if there is a piece of metal directly under the steering column that does get removed, mine is missing, I think. My underdash lap ac vent will not attach correctly with a void in that area....see pic..

Perhaps you mean the underdash "Plate" shown above the "Valve & Adapter ASSY" shown in the illustration below? (from Pontiac GTO Restoration Guide)

I'll be looking for a photo and detail of the steering column to post here for you too.

Goathead, what you need is the plate shown in Alvin's first picture. I had the same problem with the A/C 64 GTO I'm building now. That plate spans the gap under the column. It's available as a reproduction, which I purchased, but haven't installed yet. I'll try to take a look at it this weekend, install it, and snap a picture.

RPI732. I'll try to figure out how to install it.

Ill be interested in your install of that part as I see I may also need it for our '67 GTOs A/C system. I will have to see if and how it is on ours.

I did a quick BING search on the PN and it appears to be an AMES PN

I have already installed the passengers side, and it installs flat and looks good without this plate. But, on the drivers side there is no metal on the left side of the vent to stabilize it and make it lay flat. Without some support, the vent will not lay flat, but on the passengers side there is plenty of metal to make it install correctly. Also, the restoration guide exploded view only shows the plate on the drivers side, which makes sense to me.

GR8! Without our car here to look, that discription made me question if needed for both sides.
