Converting very old bayonet headlight bulbs to H3??

Converting very old bayonet headlight bulbs to H3? I have a friend that has a very modified 1937 Bentely that has about 11 inch glass lenses style headlight. They take the bayonet type of small bulbs and have a small base which is about 1/2" diameter and has pins on each side. Is there a way to adapt these so that one of the H3, H4, H5 bulbs would work? It has the large shield covered by the glass lense now with the small bulb and I was wondering if one of the newer style small bulbs could be fitted to give him more light

These are the only style I've seen converted to.

Sorry I do not have pictures I can post but I might be able to find other pictures to show what it has. This car has about 11" dia metal headlight housings that are approximately 9" deep and have a socket in the back that holds a small bulb kinda like a 1156 tail light bulb. It has stock bulbs that are not very bright compared to today's headlights. I know the wiring will most likely need to be upgraded and that is not a problem.
