stupid expanding foam
 

I have to firm up under a new bathtub and shower and the cans of expanding foam I have has instructions that the can is to be inverted to get the stuff out. :censored:


Is there some canned foam the sprays upright so I can shoot it up from the basement between the tub and floor or am I screwed and just have to punch a hole in the new walls?

Not sure if any work top-up. Even the large cans that screw into the applicator guns want to be upside down. I've used a length of clear tubing to loop up when needed. That way you can monitor the flow. Just don't stop for too long. Good luck. Mark O.

They are more money but you can buy a spray foam tank similar in size to a barbaque tank that will come with a small wand for your application.

The foam cans I use are sprayed upright, make sure to fill tub with water I spray foam under mine and forgot one time and had a jucuzzi lift up.
The foam cans I get are large gap type I believe Dow, get them at local lumber yard.

The shower stalls and bathtubs we installed we used cement in basements and wood in up stairs installations for support.Sometimes you have 2 people standing inside. Never used foam. Will the high density stuff compress?

Use the low expansion type and put it in in several applications. Ie. if you are filling and need to use 3-4 cans then do it over 3-4 applications. 1 can= 1 application.

We use this stuff - mix it up in a 5 gal pails, slop it out and around, set the tub and stomp in it until it's set where you want it. Once dried it's perfectly solid and won't give a fiberglass tub that hollow feeling.

You can always use it the way the previous owner of my car did...To fill up the rust holes in the roof. Apparently, it sands very nicely...

Just go get some clear tubing to the length that you need. Then you can hold the can anyway that it needs to go.

they do make great stuff that sprays upright i think its the light blue can. for doors and windows.

doors and windows stuff is normally minimal expanding
as others have already said,just use a longer tube

LOL... never use that yellow expansion foam around doors and windows. Especially if you want to open them again. Don't ask how I know. :rolleyes:

The white foam is the good stuff, but not for under your fiberglass tub and shower unit FSJ.
