Catalog Part #'s

The part numbers in the PY catalog use different prefixes and I was hoping someone could break it down for me. For example, GMU100 is a 68-72 clutch countershaft, RPU215 is the countershaft swivel set, and GFU29 is a clutch push rod. I've got no guess on GFU, but does GMU indicate that it is a GM part and RPU is a reproduction? Thanks.

Hi Rich,
Yes there is a method to the madness. For example GM(General Motors) U(Undercarriage). That 3rd letter would then designate the appropriate section of the car. Then for F/B G(GM), F(Firebird) U(Undercarriage). But over the years many GM pieces have been discontinued so some of those part #'s are no longer GM yet we still use the same prefix. Some of the part #'s we added an "R" to the end of the part # to designate reproduction and others we totally changed the part #. Hope this helps.

Ed,

Thanks for the info. Now it's time to start making the "want" and the "need" lists.
