2200-HP on gasoline with a Procharger?

Is this legit' on Q16 gasoline with a Procharger, or is this a happy dyno? And what of the engine moving around on that pass (look when the throttle is backed off)? Didn't seem to me like it was strapped down solid. Wouldn't this effect what the brake "sees"?

It's got E-heads, that's an easy 2200 HP.

The motor is already back in the people's republic of Maryland and will be out in a few weeks!

It is a gear driven 139 F3 with EFI, why is it so hard to believe it made 2200 when gear driven F1X's have made 1700 hp or so on the dyno?

The 139 is the largest F3 model made...

First of all, I was there and it is legit. His dyno is not happy. There have been several people on this board that have been there and dyno'd (me, Tony and Billy, Mark L). I dyno'd my motor there and it backed the number up (it actually made more HP at the track than it did on the pump). Second of all, I bet any dyno that is getting 1600+ ft. lbs. of torque put to is going to move. Even a motor with a front and mid-plate in the car can't keep it from flexing. Third of all, if you listen to him explain in the video at the end of the dyno pull he said that the 2301HP number was a "popcorn number" because he was getting off the throttle. We all discussed this after the video was shut off and believe that the 2301 number is very attainable and fairly easy for the simple fact that the I/C is only rated at 1800HP, plus you can't factor the "ram air" effect of going down the track and the air being forced in versus the blower having to suck the air in. Also, the motor could have took atleast another degree or two of timing and the AFR's were safe (not on the edge). So I'm guessing we left about 100HP on the table. The goal was to make 2000+HP and have the motor be able to live and that goal was achieved.

Seeing what is required to get to this level with a turbo or roots blower on methanol, and not being savvy about Prochargers, I had to ask. Thanks for the clarification. I guess the proof in the pudding will be what kind of numbers it puts up on the board in a 1/4 mile.

Gotcha. If I had to guess given the weight of the car...I'd say 7.40-7.50 range. Driver has to get ust to the power first. LOL The calculators say faster than that but those are perfect/ideal conditions.

Since you have to have an intercooler, if you want to make any big power without running into detonation problems anyway, you also have to carry ice water for the intercooler to cool the air.

Cool the air, then send the water to cool the engine. With the right remote pump and the right pressure in the system going to the the engine, you actually see engine temps drop as it is going down the track...

Most people use cheap bilge pumps to cool the air and do not get this type of cooling effect...

You can do the same benefit on a N/A or nitrous car by ditching the conventional radiator setup for a ice water tank and save weight if you are smart about tank and pump placement in the car.

Example: Stage the car at 110 degrees, cross the line at 75 degrees in the 1/8th of a mile with a nitrous car, it is being done...

I can vouch for the dyno being accurate. Never made that much but have been involved with a few cars that definitely ran the number including mine in 2004-5

I have been to Steve Morris Dyno for the "Turbo Forum's Blow-Thru Carb Shoot-Out", (all three carbed engines made over 2000 hp), Brian's testing with his F-2 Procharger Pontiac engine, Luhn Performance with the 863 HP "stocker" 455 engine. I have seen many pulls over 2000 hp there on the 572 BB Chebby Engine's with the F3-139 Belt driven supercharger stuff installed.

So I believe the number being over 2000 HP. My guess would be the 2300 number is about 125 HP High. Still a 2175 HP number would be a serious number for a 511 cid engine.

I was not surprised that Steve would predict that the Pontiac engine would only make 1800 HP as he is always conservative on that stuff.

Great Job by Brian H and the crew from the east coast.

Brian. It's common for engines move a little on the dyno. Even street engines move that much. My engine on the 2886 hp pull rose about 2" due to the exhaust pressure and slammed back down when pulling out of the throttle. Also pushed the dyno forward a couple inches. It's on rollers. It's also common to get a spike at the end of the pull when the dyno pulls the engine back down from the preset rpm limit. Torgue link see's more pressure.

I cannot vouch for the dyno, and won't comment in that regard. However, I can say that it is well within that combination's reach to make 2300.

The 139 blower is no longer made by ProCharger, the new bad boy is the 136. And it is a bad boy indeed....I have a customer that switched from the 135 (similar numbers to the 139) to the 136, and picked up a ton of boost/power. I honestly believe that the 136 will make 2800-2900 on the right engine combination.

Congrats to all involved with this project. It's going to be a runner!!

All of my previously Steve Morris dyno time was based on F-3 139 unit. Never really saw a 135 unit run. I also have heard that the new 136 had a lot of potential. Think that Procharger HAD to step up after Chris Alston jr ran quicker with a crank drive Vortech Supercharger in the Nova vs the F3-139 unit they previously used.

Hope to see the car/engine at Norwalk in August.

How much bigger is the snout diameter on the crank to withstand that much force from the procharger?
