Drag radials to hook
 

On my 68 I have a set of M/T 275/60/15s I do have traction bars already. Is air pressure the trick to getting these to hook at street lights?

Looks like I found it. Nahhh LOL Went to M/T website. Looks like 16-18 lbs for the street is about right. I got killed last night LOL

I ran 18 on my 255/60/15 drag radials. Hooked good at the track, but never really hooked on the street. Good luck.

Too many variables on the street....

My Ventura made 530 ft lbs at 3200 rpm.

Drag radials were no contest.

They hooked fine at 20 lbs at the track.

Loosen the front end.

Mickeys work great on a well prepped track and after a good burnout.On the street from a roll isn't too bad all depends on power.Try a good burnout while waiting for the light..:D

I kept my 275/60-15 MT's at 24psi most of the time, and hooked great. Best 60' at that pressure was 1.52 with my wagon. In my old Firebird with the same pressure, I got some 1.53's.

I'm now running the Goodyear DR's on my wagon. Even though they are the same size, the Goodyears are a bit wider. I haven't had them on the track yet, but they hook GREAT on the street for me.

This was on the street with 24 pounds of air. I hit the gas and all I did was spin the tires and that tang was 3 car lengths out LOL :(

I just got a set of the new M/T Drag Radial Pros 275/60/15(only size offered right now). Night and day difference. No more burning through 2nd. Hooks up decent in 1st on the street. Not much more tread than a slick, but they are DOT approved.

I don't think they are street legal. Great hooking tire though.

From the listing of them on the Summit Racing site- They're DOT approved but then add "Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Pro tires are designed for drag racing use only; they're not legal for street use."

I'm going with DOT approved. ;)

I run M&H Racemasters in an 18 no less (on other car), and right aire pressure AND heat is key. I drive to the track with 26 or 27 lbs and then air down to 19 at the track. Good 3-4 sec burnout in the box and it's a dead hook @ 3500 RPM. On the street? Much better than a street tire, but still breaks loose behind 675 lbs/ft torque and a manual trans - try not to do this too much though...
