98 Red verse 2000 Red
Ok folks, at the last show {this weekend} right next to me is parked a 98 Ws6 Conv. The 98 was red, with a special order white top and interior. While talking to the owner we noticed that the 98's factory paint was a shade lighter brighter then my 2000's. Now I know all about allternate shades in paint in THE SAME MODEL year. And I know how colors changed year to year. {I had a 68 Meriadian Turquese GTO. 69 Crystal Turq was way different. Bottom line, is 98 red differnt then 2000? My 2000 seemed to have more blue {causing it to be darker} Thanks again

Color code for all RED birds 1998 and 2000 was 81U. If that owner has a copy of the invoice or the PHS, it should say that color code. If the car was a special order car for 1998, maybe he ordered another color called Red-orange color code 96U. This color was supposed to be only available on V6 birds and not available in model year 2000. Maybe thats your difference.

humm that might explain why I had never seen the color of one at a pic and pull I got most of the parts off of. It was a 98 reddish V-6. Never looked at the paint code was too busy getting all the good stuff off as 98+ are hard to find in the pic and pulls.

The lady who owns the 1998 told me she special ordered her car with a white top and interior.She probably ordererd that Red -Orange that your talking about. Nice reply! {I knew I wasnt just seeing things-It was brighter than my 2000's red}
