Carburetor Reuild Service

A freind has a 69 qudrajet (# 7029262) he would like rebuilt, he needs it back faster than Cliff can get to it so I said that I would ask here. Car is a 69 Firebird 400/ 400 auto. Looking for a nice quality reliable rebuild, not a restoration (re-plating). Car may see a stroker engine in the future along with a six speed & 3:73's but for now it is a open rear end w/ stock 400 4V w/ automatic transmission and 26" tall tires. 3:73's will be going in soon and 15" rims so I assume a 28" tall tire. A reasonable quick turn around time is what he is after so he & his wife can drive the car to Norwalk this year. Can anyone here help him out. Please post here or send me a PM with details / contact information and I will forward along to my friend. Thank you.

Buy a kit from Cliff with recommended parts and a can of carb dip and do it yourself. Billk

Thanks Bill, I made the same offer to him already, my book and get the parts from Cliff. He has no interest in builing it himself (no self confidence I guess).

Here is a guy out of Rockford, IL. Talked to him at a few swap meets, but never used his services.

A high-school kid can rebuild a Q-Jet, and have a stock- or near-stock-engine run properly afterward.

The hard part of carb work is recalibrating the fuel curve; (tuning) and that isn't done as a normal part of a "rebuild".

I sent my tripower center carb to Jon Havens and was very pleased with his work, communication and very quick turnaround time. Don't know if he works on all carbs or just tripowers.
