Year One Rally II Sticky?

With the obvious popularity of the 17" Year One Rally II, should we maybe have a sticky thread on them here so we dont have to search? Show pics of your ride with them, what size wheel/tire size you went with, rear end width, brake choice and body clearance etc. I think this will be an ever growing interest.

I agree. I am curious how the 17x8s with 4.5" backspacing fit 69-72 GPs and what tire size is ideal.

These three give me the closest overall diameter to what is on my GP now:

235/50-17 - 26.25" OD
245/50-17 - 26.65" OD
255/45-17 - 26.03" OD

My 225/70-14s have a 26.4' OD and my speedo is dead on accurate at least to 75 mph.

I'm only considering these to have more tire options rather than hunting for 14"ers on restored original wheels. I'm not after improved handling, so I think 17x8 is best for me. 245/50-17 seems to be ideal.

What kind of ride quality do people with 45 and 50 profile tires have on stock suspensions? I am curious how much harsher the ride with be going from 70 series down to 50.

So no one really wants to make a sticky out of the 17" rally II's??

I like the idea. I am considering a set for my 77 GP. I wonder though if 17 inch tires are getting harder to find, or will they? 18's seem like a popular size that is easy to find.

My first reason for considering these was the $$$ for dinky 14" and 15" tires. I don't think 17" is going anywhere for a long time.

The thought of paying the same or more for 14s/15s than I paid for my '01 T/A's 17s makes me cringe.

I had just posted a WTB for a pair of the 17x8's The 9's are available now, but the 8's are not.

If anyone has a pair they want to sell let know.

Thanks Stan
