Very cool. I wonder where that guy ended up. Somebody's got him in a barn somewhere.

The fiberglass statue is one of the Muffer Man statues. Have ran across quite a few over the years.

Opps...sorry OPH didnt see the link already posted....

My main "stuff" hauler over the years (out of PA) also hauled for a collector in NJ or NY state who collected Muffler Men.
Said he had a estate property full of them.

He was a retired truck driver hauling with his wife seeing the Country until he passed.

He knew where many of these were located and would try and buy on the spot for his deep pocket customer up North if he ran across one.

This site has many of the locations and explains the variations and what they hold...;
(site also has other strange roadside attractions by State)

PS: buried on that busy site is story on their origins...thought it might be interesting for some...;

This one was in front of "Mutual Ford" until 1999 and was painted to look like Uncle Sam in my home town.

There was a program on the Travel, History, or Dicovery Channel a year or so ago that traveled to and stopped at several of the "Muffler Man" and variants across the middle of America. Show was a pretty interesting piece of Americana.

That's pretty cool! :)

The "muffler man " that is listed in woodstown NJ is still there. It sits in front of a big flea market called cowtown. Thay even have a huge bull the same size standing next to him. I guess because they have rodeos there too.

Old Blue 66 08-11-2013 09:00 AM

There's one here in IL somewhere. I just cant remember where. I want to say in front of a Buick dealer.

EDIT:
I found them via the link posted here. One is in front of a farm partially run by disabled children who live there - Lambs farm

The other is a relativity new placement. This plant,greenhouse, nursery in Crystal Lake has two of them who opened about five years ago.
