350 2bbl throttle linkage...
 

Anyone have any photos of how the '69 2bbl throttle bracket and linkage mounts to the carb on a 350 Lemans? I've got an engine here that feels like the brackets have been put together wrong and the angle is very "off" and different compared to the pre '67 and post '72 engines I've worked on. Previous owner installed a super stiff spring as well which isn't helping matters. Service manual is not 100% on this as I've found...

Without a pic , the way the throttle linkage is mounted on the intake is , the brkt. says T-2 stamped in it & mounts to the last bolt on the intake on the left side & the other ear of the throttle brkt. mounts to a boss (where a bolt goes in) on the top of the runner for the # 7 intake. The brkt looks like the handle oh a gun with a single strap that goes over the front end of it to hold the throttle cable. The brkt has 3 small holes in it where the springs go. There are 2 springs that should go to the brkt , to the carb. A small dia. one & one just about twice as big around. The small on goes inside the big one & the springs attach at the brkt with the small one in the first hole closest to the carb & the bigger one goes into the middle hole. There is tension on the springs but it shouldn't be like a coil spring on the front end of the car. The correct replacement can be gotten from any of the aftermarket providers such as PY. If you don't have the correct brkt, I have several of the correct ones available.

Thanks rexs73gto. Sounds like the bracket on the intake is mounted correctly (minus the monster springs that are stretched 3X their length). Any description of how the throttle bracket on the carb looks? This one is not nice and level like my '72 and '65 carbs were, it's tilted back almost 45 degrees and does not make a nice smooth motion when the pedal is worked.

That 3rd picis a good shot of what yours should look like. The spring goes down on the arm of the carb & should be at a 90 deg. angle to the brkt., & run horzontial to the manifold. The reason your is proberly so hard to operate is the tension on the springs you have on there now. If the spring pressure is that hard it will ware out the throttle shaft as it will be pulling it so hard to one side which will cause you all kinds of other problems with the carb like bad idle because of a vac. leak being created from the ware on the shaft.

The wrong throttle cable could be an issue too, the 2bbl one is different than the 4bbl cable.
