Look what I found in the attic
 

I had stored some parts with a friend many years ago and had "forgotten" about them until recently. Just a pic as it came down from the rafters, then wiped off. Along with this laser-straight hood, no kinks, no rust, no dents... were a perfect trunk lid, perfect driver's door with soft ray glass and an entire rear 68 GTO bumper, with tail lamps and wiring and brackets...

It felt a bit like finding $20 in the pocket of some old jeans you had not worn for a while.

Has this ever happened to anyone else...the "I forgot that I had this..." thing?

I have more than a few trunk lids. I am getting ready to inventory and I will begin selling some parts. Check back with me in a few weeks. :)

I pulled out several nice dash, engine, and tail light harnesses in addition to a bucket full of carb parts from a box I've had packed and not opened since 2004 earlier this year.

Forgot I owned a car once. I had sold it to a guy, then 6 months later, bought it back from him sight unseen but left it stored as his place. We were talking awhile later and he mentioned the car. I had totally forgotten about it!

For parts, I just unearthed an ebay purchase that has a USPS ship date of 2006 on the box. I am waiting until 2016 to open it up and see what I have.

There is a lot of things I foget about all the time. Guess its just old age:D

I was climbing through the back of my parts storage a couple years ago and was about to step on a cardboard box when I decided I better check what was in it. 72 RA pan in pristine condition.

i find stuff all the time like that..well..not mint hoods, but stuff. I have a big building and i have stuff i havent seen in a while, and i will buy something put in one end of the building, work on the other end and find the exact part i already bought...tuff being a horder..but i enjoy it..

Not mine or a Pontiac but a cool related story. Friend of mine at work has a 60 Corvette that he has slowly been working on for 10+ years.

So – a few weeks ago he is asking me about factory bolts as most of his are pitted.
I tell him to check out AMK but due to the year of the car he is going to have to match pictures or GM numbers. He ordered an assembly manual off Ebay for part numbers.

Last week he gets it and complains how hard it is to read, of which I tell him most of the reprints are.

Tuesday he comes over to me and tells me that he found something that he forgot he had. He was cleaning out his spare bedroom Monday night. In the closest was a box that had an older reprint of the manual. He forgot he bought it off Ebay about 8 years ago and just threw the box in the closet until needed. He tells me that it is very clear to read.

I asked him to bring it in as I wanted to find out who printed it.

Yesterday he plops down a 4” thick old Chevy binder on my desk. Well I open it and first thing I notice is the paper is the old blueprint paper. Most of the pages are B and C size prints folded.

In the upper corner of the binder is “Engineering section E” and it is broken into different sections and years.

The back cover has an opening where I pull out a letter dated 1965 on Chevrolet letter head. It is signed by the VP of Chevrolet aftermarket to some hardware company. It just states that this is related to the project I talked to you about and it should get you started. (whatever that means?)


So I enthusiastically tell my friend that I believe he has been sitting on atleast a partial set of the original run of blueprints related to the 58 thru 60 Corvette! I told him to get them scanned in real size and do not use that book out in the garage!
