transportation from Canada to US
 

I have a line on a '66 Grand Prix up in Alberta and need it transported to Detroit/Ann Arbor in the U.S. Also need an extra engine block (the original for the car) shipped as well.

Does anyone have any info to help? All the quotes so far are atronomical!

I can go get it my self for under $2,000 including import tax at the border ... but is that the going rate today?

I just don't want to travel 4,000 miles and take 4 days ...

Any suggestions or recommendations?

I transported 2 cars from Florida to Detroit / AA for $1,600 via Reliable Carriers only a few years ago. They don't do this area ...

Not wanting to cast any doubts on this but are you SURE its a "66 Grand Prix"?

The Canadians had in 1966 a Grand Parisienne. LOOKS like a Grand Prix but its all Chev underneath.:(

Second issue that would worry me is the rust factor? I occasionally look at the Canadian Pontiac website and the continual underlying thread in many discussions is corrosion. Parts up there must be difficult to obtain as I sold a radiator support panel to a guy in Canada some years ago after he had given up trying to find a good one. (Australian built cars used Canadian sourced panels. They are not the same as US panels).

Dont want to jack-thread... Dont forget that most Canadian cars were treated/greased with anti-rust. Common thing here in Canada. Makes a mess but I've seen my share of 40 years old car without any major rust issues.

My Oshawa built car has zero rust. Every panel/undercarriage is covered with that sticky stuff.

'66 GP ... 4spd 421 tripower ... buckets console tach posi pwr-antenna a/c pb ps remote-mirror ... original ... marina turq paint with turq interior.

no 8 lugs but if anyone has a set reasonably priced ... let me know ... :)

Very little of that used in central and western Canada. It's mostly Ontario and east that uses the stuff.
