My good friend Art passed this week , services were yesterday. He loved classic cars particularly Pontiacs, classic rock , played the guitar and was a accomplished artist drawing sketches of musclecars. He will always be missed. We met as fellow members of the Dallas Area Pontiac Association many years ago and ran into each other in 2007 and hung out alot and put several Pontiac project together over the next 5 years. He had been losing his battle with Parkinsons and was cheated out of well earned retirement years. He worked for 30 years for the US Army COE after serving in the Air Force and even was a City Manager of Bossier City LA for a time. He met a girl back in the old college days in Maryland she went with him taking her from Roger Staubach ! , He had an opportunity to play Professional Baseball as a Catcher but didnt take it. He was a talented Horseman, a Guitar player, Artist, Pontiac man, lover of classic rock and classic cars.

Arthur Gerald Birdwell, III

Arthur Gerald Birdwell, III, 69, of Burkburnett, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett with Joe Coombes, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.

Arthur was born April 16, 1944 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the late Evelyn (Fry) and Arthur G. Birdwell, Jr. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.

Arthur graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Business Administration, and later received his Masters in Economics from the University of Missouri/Kansas City.

He worked as the Planning Supervisor for over 30 years with The Corp of Engineers.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Birdwell and wife Rhonda of Wichita Falls; his sister, Ginger Schroeder and husband Ken of Millersville, Maryland; and two grandchildren, Caleb and Sara Birdwell.
