1967 Tempest Wagon w/factory OHC 6 4BBL

3 Attachment(s)
Made a trip to Fredericksburg, VA yesterday to pick up a new toy. It is a 67 Tempest Wagon with a factory installed OHC 6 4BBL engine. Although it was not called a "Sprint" option, this engine was offered in 67 and was installed in only 62 Tempest Custom wagons. 1 of 47 with the 2 speed automatic trans. The plan is to fix up some minor things as I enjoy/drive the car.

That's a beautiful car! I love these wagons. I had one lined up to buy but I thought it'd be a better idea to finish my goat first plus my girlfriend didn't approve lol but if I would've brought it home she would've gotten over it.

I had no idea they ever put a 4bbl on an OHC 6. I thought they were all 2bbl. Very cool car! Post some pics of the whole car will you? Been a while since I've seen one. Love the wheels too

Did you just really post that?
WTF have you been :D I've been on here for years talking, selling and promoting OHC 6 and Sprint 6 Pontiacs for years.

SB,
I had no idea it was for sale.
Very cool wagon, I recall back when he picked it up.
Very cool OHC HO engine option.
For those not aware as stated this is NOT a SPRINT but an optional engine package.

Does it come with any PHS info; to share?

Do you mind me asking how much you paid.

Inquiring minds want to know ;)

Very Cool indeed!

Really cool wagon. Nice acquisition SB. Looks to be in great shape too.

I did. Just to get your goat Jeff. :D

Seriously, I just never paid attention.

Very cool car missed one here still kicking myself a/c option hood light nice I had a 67 Tempest custom in high school 3 on the tree ohc guy I got it from put a 4 bbl manifold and carb with header on it I would give the ol 327's a run for the money.

Well Jeff, It was not advertised. I arranged the sale from Nathe to Tyrone and was present when Nathe bought it in Dayton. I asked Tyrone if he ever wanted to sell it, to call me. Well I got the call about 3 weeks ago.
Thanks all for the compliments on the wagon. It is in fairly nice, original paint, driver condition. I like the patina! The car needs the master cylinder, an oil change, cleaned and it is ready to drive. Future plan is to fix up some of the interior panels, valve seals and possibly a paint job/minor body work. I have a bunch of documentation including the original window sticker and invoice. I paid $8000.

Ahhhh, Paul's like me at times..... too poor to pay attention. You are not alone in this Paul. But with me these days it's more of an advanced case of CRS due to old age. ;)

Just so you know... NONE of them came with a 2bbl. :cool2:
The base version had a 1 bbl and the high output models had a Qjet.

SB,
Very cool, I hope you will/can share some of that info;
This is IMO a truly unique OHC 6 Pontiac.

Paul,
Here is some useless info; to broaden your newly acquired OHC knowledge ;)
The '66 SPRINT OHC 6 was the first to use the new Quadrajet 4BC carb,
GTO's didn't get them until '67 :p

Cool wagon. Nice find.

GT182 12-30-2013 10:11 PM

Paul, the 1 bbl was hell when you tried to pass a car on a 2 lane highway back then. LOL

Not useless information at all. Honestly info I did not know. Cool stuff.

Maybe I should read more in the cammer tech section.

I can't even imagine. Never driven any car with a single barrel carb.

GT182 12-31-2013 12:29 PM

I've ridden in a few back in the late 50s and early 60s. It was scarry sitting there when my granddad decide to pass a car. Grandma would holler.. "George, watchout for the car!", and cringe.

What a cool find! I love the wagons too, and I love mine, albeit mine wasn't a 6 cyl originally, so I had no qualms about swapping in a 428.

Enjoy your new wagon... I know you'll love it! :D
