I believe this car is being offered outright at $24,500. I had a friend drive down to see it and he was quite disappointed despite it's beautiful appearance in the pictures. He told me there was a surprising amount of bondo in the car.

I remember this car in Darrel's warehouse the first time I flew over to see him in Texas.

It does appear to be a very early SSJ and quite possibly the first one made. Darrel Yoder owned and restored this car probably in the 2002-2004 range and he was a hawk when it came to doing the cars correctly and researching their backgrounds. One of the best in the business in finding and documenting rare cars.

:eek:wow, seems like the market is very soft and or these cars are way under valued with the documented history of the Vaughn connection.

This is the car that I sold to Darrel back years ago. I have the PHS on it. A friend found it about 15 miles from here in AL.

The car did not come with the Hurst SSJ emblems,supposedly due to the early production and emblem availability. It had regular SJ emblems on it. I was told that there were two cars built close together and this was the first one.

Darrel told me that this was the first SSJ made. It is the car on the factory Hurst Brochure for 1970.

It has brown interior and was numbers matching when it was sold.

I see the seller has my documents and Smoke Signals story about the car in the pics on ebay.

Anyone interested in the car that may have questions about its history,let me know.

same here, I had a triple white '72 that could have made an awesome hurst clone

GPs are a great value
 

These cars are way under valued , but like 63-65 Riveras GS, 66-67 Olds Toronados they will come up and be at 50K for top notch cars before you know it. A 70 GP 400 sold at Mecum in the low 40's through it looked like it had more invested in the restoration. GPs are a great value when you consider the quality, how well they drive and styling. Just my 02 cents..

I'm still trying to figure out the link that confirms the fact that this is the actual car that Linda Vaughn used. Anyone else figure that out?

Hard to be 100% positive on that issue without her or someone at Hurst verifying it (maybe Don Morton). But, the fact that this is a very early VIN SSJ and the non-SSJ emblems on the fenders puts it as a frontrunner. The stock Pontiac fender emblems suggest that this is a pre-production SSJ...

Hurst may have had 1,2, or 3 of these SSJs around at that time, so it's near impossible to conclude, at least from my POV.

So the guy calls me a couple weeks ago, sez this car is up for sale and it is nice, rare etc...Knows I'm some sort of SSJ expert or something....OK....


So I told him I know the car and he sez it's up for about $25k and he can get it for $20k

Told him to buy it at $20k if he likes it, but that's top market on the car. Go ahead try to flip the car but you"ll probably be holding the bag on it. Maybe get some more on ebay or whatever. MEgabucks? no.

Still at 20-25k would be a unique eye catcher at just about any show. forget about the "Linda claims" and just consider it an SSJ. Im bidding on it

Im not going any higher then 25. But you never know what some "yahoo" may try to bid. No way is this a 30k car

my green car has about as much rust on it as the bumper brackets of yours....don't recall you seeing it...

Here's the car used in the 70 SSJ color brochure. You'll notice the stock SJ emblem on the driver's side but not on the passenger side. A keen eye will tell you why. Any guesses?
