Triple gauges recommendation
 

I'm planning on putting a triple gauge set in my 67 GTO. I'll start with, I'm on a budget. I want a decent set that is accurate and affordable. I'm wondering how the summit brand gauges are?

I was also wondering about the sunpro or equuis gauges also. I know autometer makes great gauges but they are expensive and out of budget.

If that's too high for your budget, I'd go with the Summit.

I'd say that accurate and affordable are at opposite ends of the spectrum. A friend gave me a new set of (cheap) SunPro gauges for my break-in stand. The water temp gauge isn't too bad, but the mechanical oil pressure gauge reads 15 pounds low at 60 PSI.

Stewart Warner guarantees its gauges to be within plus or minus 10%. Doesn't sound too bad until you realize that an engine operating at exactly 200° can read anywhere from 180° to 220° with their gauges -- that's a 40 degree spread.

I've had the best luck with Auto Meter and have used some of their Auto Gage line with good results.

I paid about $100 for the oil pressure and water temp. gauges.

Allstar Performance analog gauges are inexpensive and fairly accurate. Looks pretty good too.

These are the ones I've decided to go with. I like the design and the large size gauges. And the price isn't terrible.
