New Personal Best

I've always wanted to race my Tempest at Bakersfield, but I don't like big crowds. I had a chance to participate in a test-n-tune on 2-1-14. The DA was the best I have ever raced in, varying between 1200'-1500'. Best ET was 9.76 and best mph was 138.12. It was capable of more, but the 60's were inconsistent, and the car wandered all the way down the track. I had to abandon the first run. That's too bad as my 60' was 1.40 and the air was 1000'.

Congrats OMT.

Outstanding! Great job, Jim. Did you make any changes since you last ran it at Barona? Are you planning on attending Pontiac Heaven this year?
No changes at all. Yes, I am currently planning on attending Pontiac Heaven.
Congrats OMT!!
B/T/W, I made four full passes with my worst being 9.84 at 137.40.
Congrats OMT!!!

9 second club...
Nice job, Jim!
Congratulations on the new time
Well done, OMT.
I'm jealous, as we have about 18" of snow on the ground here. K |
Congrats Jim!!
Awesome Jim!!!
Outstanding! Do you know what the da range was at Carlsbad when I operated. I use to race there in the early 90s. And I met you at the McDonald's in Escondido it the same time frame.
Congrats, OMT!
Looks like some great passes. I think your reaction times aren't slipping either. Give the young whippersnappers a run for their money. :) |
Awesome runs. Too bad just about every time we see optimum atmospheric conditions for best power that the additional power has the tires overcome the track just a tad. I agree, there is more in there with improved 60' times......Cliff
Great job! Better luck next time with those 60's Jim...
Congratulations, Jim. I look forward to seeing you and your car at Pontiac Heaven--just two months away.

As usual Jim, always improving your game. Nice work.
Probably have gone faster now NA than you ever did in the street racing days (with the smaller engine, tri-power, and NOS). Tom Vaught |
